Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: D.J. Fluck @stadium_scene

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I live outside of Phoenix, AZ USA and work as an Electrical Engineer during the day and during my free time,
I co-run the @stadium_scene account with my friend and partner. We use the account to hype the content from our websites stadiumscene.tv and stadiumscene.com. At stadiumscene.tv we act as a central hub for start-up sports bloggers, video creators, and podcasters to give them a centralized place to build up their brands. At stadiumscene.com we have built the ultimate sports traveler’s guide that will assist you with finding tickets, transportation tips, and bar and restaurant locations near the ballpark. We also use our Instagram account to share cool sports photos and amusing stories/pics. Most importantly, I take time to enjoy what I do and not take myself too seriously as you can see in my picture.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Sports and traveling. We love both, so this is what we spend all of our time on.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I came up with the idea of Stadium Scene as a sports traveler guide about 10 years ago but didn’t actually build it until about two years ago. The Instagram name came as a result of the site.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

For simple filters and cropping, I just use the Apple Photos app as it has become quite powerful in the last few years. For more advanced editing, I prefer to use the Apple application called "Gimp", which is essentially like "Photoshop-lite" and is also free.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

We work a lot with @fisherjillian who has built up quite a large brand on her own and has inspired several other Instagrammers that we now work with, like @schudel_ralph and @tailgatetourist.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Head on over to stadiumscene.tv and check out our partners work. We’ve know first hand how frustrating it is to start from scratch and try to get noticed on the Internet. These partners work for free and put their material together on their own time with the hopes that someday they’ll be paid to do what they love. We’re here to try to help them achieve that dream and ours as well.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

We’ve had quite the epiphany recently when deciding what our long-term goal for stadiumscene.tv would be. We feel right now that we could put together a small band of publishers on a single site and help them grow. The issue now for us is figuring out how we can make money to continue to be able to sustain what we’re doing and grow the site and social media as our popularity increases.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Work with an influencer who comes off as authentic. They may not have the best voice or physical appearance, but if they are open, honest, and relatable to the audience, it will go much farther than with someone who comes off as phony. For us is to be selective. If we feel uncomfortable with a product either that it’s something controversial or something we don’t see as useful or relevant to our target audience, we won’t go ahead with it just for the money. We want to do this the right way.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality is the most important thing you can focus on with something visual like Instagram. If you look unprepared or make bad typos in an advertisement, your credibility is gone. People on Instagram are smart. They want to see new and original content.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love networking and building relationships with brands. My hope is that I can influence the brands to not only work with me, but work with my partners as well so we can make our product all around better.
