Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Crystal Tan Xin Mian @xinnmiannn

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Crystal, or you can call me Xin Mian whichever is more comfortable, but i assume Crystal is easier! I am currently studying in a private university, degree in Psychology and Criminology! I am from Singapore!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

As i studied psychology and i also studied 5 years of Literature hence I am very interested and can say a bit knowledgeable in this field! Hence i motivated to post encouragement or motivational advices for people! Nowadays i really see a lot of young kids posting depressing sentences or are getting depressed which is very heartbreaking, so i hope that my instagram can be able to help people to become more positive and also to be more open minded.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I actually wanted to change my name but had no idea currently. My former instagram name came when my friend gave me this name so we can actually have the same number of ‘n’ in our username!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

i actually use picsart to edit my photos! Usually i dont edit much but i will edit the lightning so that the photo is much mote attractive and in a more nicer way compare to the original photo!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love naomi as i had seen her when i was a teenager and from her ups and downs until now that she is married and have 2 child. I like her as she is really really pretty and she is very positive where by she just simply don’t care about the haters (which is why i cannot do it) and continue about her life as a influencer. I really acknowledge her this point.

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like how i am able to motivate people and improve their mental health. even though from the start i do not want to become influencer / famous as i just started it as a hobby whereby to catch up with friends etc. But since it lead to this current situation, i had a though of how or what my instagram should be like and i came about to want to inspire people.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I love how Starngage had a telegram group whereby i can get updates directly. But the campaigns was a bit hard to participate as mostly is overseas and its hard for Singaporeans to join. Yes there are other campaigns for Singapore but its hard to join too.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think for brands who are running campaigns to maybe enlarge their area or something? Like for overseas countries can include Singapore too so Singaporeans who are interested can have the chance to join too!
I maintain authenticity by constantly updating my instagram and often changing my bio so that it remains sincere and real.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I must reiterate this point because i really like to reinforce that you should definitely try the product before posting and even writing your own ideas. It would be best to research about the new company or products and find out what it is like, for example the ingredients of the product, reviews of it and the company’s aim. So as to voice out and advertise in such a way which is you really love it and not because the company wanted you to.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like how some are very friendly and professional whereby they will come back to me again to ask me to promote again and some brands are even non commercial like they basically talk to me in a really friendly way which doesn’t even seem like they are just here for business purposes!
