1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am a college student from San Antonio, Texas with ever-growing love for design, photography, and the beauty of everyday life. DIY blogging and design started as a hobby for me, but I have absolutely fallen in love with it. I am a small blogger, but working my butt off to grow my corner of the internet!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
Instagram is my absolute favorite social media outlet because I am a very visually inspired person! When I’m not snapping pics f DIY projects, I love taking insta photos in antique stores and cute vintage shops, as well as out in nature. Ok, and my blogging heart is crazy about cute walls too. A general rule of thumb for me is that if the picture has pastels, it’ll probably make it into my Instagram feed.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My Instagram name is essentially a shortened version of my blog name, All Paths Lead to Wonderland. That name came from my childhood love of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, and my belief that good can come out of all things. I believe that your perception plays such an influence on how magical the world around you can be, and, bout to sound cheesy, but life is a wonderland if you let it be one.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
My first key for cell phone photos is natural light. No matter how much editing you do, it can be practically impossible to correct for low light or unnatural light bulb colors. Once I have a pretty great photo to start with, I love to use Snapseed for their selective brightness tool. I’m also a big fan of the filters in the A Color Story app,. and my love of pastels tries to put their Color Fog effect on just about everything.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
My favorite Instagrammers include mattcrump (pastels + self-depricating humor), studiodiy (yaaas, those DIY goals), kennaandlulu (personal style too cute to function) and hotpinkpineapples (color, color COLOR)! Basically any account that’s clean and colorful has my vote. Ooh, and I also love the softer aesthetics of shaylalilian and me_and_orla.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Taking an excess number of polaroid pictures– they are always a cute addition to an insta flatlay!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I have been personally inspired by so many influencers across social media, and hope to be the same to other creatives dying to have a voice. From friends to random followers, it means so much to hear that someone is inspired by me putting myself out there and doing what I love. Especially for college kids like me, I believe that passion is so important when it comes to careers and hobbies.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I actually don’t have an excess amount of experience with running campaigns, and that stems from restricting myself to working only with brands that I personally appreciate and support. It wouldn’t make design sense for me to take on a campaign for a product or service that isn’t true to my own my Instagram aesthetic. I’ve seen far too many #ads that stick out like a sore thumb on an otherwise gorgeous instagram feed, and that’s just unfortunate. Also, I love it when campaign captions still stay true to the voice of the influencer! It’s like taking a product recommendation from a friend rather than a sales person, especially when influencers are promoting things they truly love.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Since Instagram is 90% visual, staying true to great quality photos, as well as consistent lighting and color patterns within your feed makes a big difference to whether or not I’ll want to click follow. I also think that using primarily original photos makes me inclined to support a creative! Doing so makes your corner of the internet authentic, consistent, and inspiring as you create your own little vision through an Instagram account!
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I think it is so exciting to take a product you love and support, and display it to your audience through your own creative lens. At the same time, brands themselves can be so incredibly inspiring! Entrepreneurship is a big goal of mine, and seeing that manifested through a successful brand lets me know that I should keep going after those dreams.
