Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Christy Ho @christyfrisbee

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Christy, otherwise known as ‘christyfrisbee’ in the world of social media. Singaporean-born, spent a good 10 years of my life overseas but returned to my sunny island in 2005. I’m 25 in June and am currently working at Facebook Singapore as a Page Operation Analyst!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Style – this ranges from clothes and shoes to necklaces and bags! I post OOTDs the most but have my fair share of food flatlays cos I’m such a hungry monster! You can expect true authenticity from my feed 🙂

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Hmm I thought of ‘christyfrisbee’ when I was back in poly as I’ve always found words that end with ‘ee’ pretty cute (lol). And it rhymed with my name so why not? Fun fact though, you would think I play Frisbee but I can’t play the sport for nuts. I just can’t seem to let go of the disc at the right time 🙁

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use Snapseed. Snapseed is THE BEST. Occasionally, for the additional bling, I used PicsArt. For photo editing, it really depends on the subject of my photo. I love cool tones so you will rarely find warm colours on my feed! I like to play with brightness, highlights and temperature.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love Jenn Im – both on YouTube and on Instagram. She’s so down to earth, which I believe is something we have in common. I think social media can engulf you and throw you off track sometimes. I see people lose themselves to likes and follower counts and it’s not a path I want to go down. Though she has soooo many followers, she stays true to who she is and is always humble. Humility is the best!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Everyone has different tastes so what I would encourage others to try would be to try what they’ve always wanted to put their minds to but never got around to doing so. Stop procrastinating and making excuses for yourselves! Be a risk taker! 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love dressing up and taking great photos so I guess being able to do what I love and be recognised/appreciated for that is the best part about this ‘job’. I really enjoy being able to share truly awesome products with my followers as well! I recently ran a thank you giveaway and gifted a couple fans with something small in return for their support and one girl lives in Germany! Let’s just say I’ve sent her a pretty Singaporean parcel!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Don’t engage an influencer purely for their follower count. Numbers are never everything! My tip would be to take some time and study their feeds to see whether they stand for what your brand stands for. If this is aligned, go ahead and make magic! 🙂 I never take on projects I don’t believe in or enjoy promoting. When you do so, you’re lying to your followers and to yourself.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Just be you cos everyone else is taken! Simple. Taking on someone else’s identity won’t pay in the long run.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

When a brand engages my service, I enjoy asking them why they picked me. It’s interesting to see what they saw in me/my feed ! I feel a sense of accomplishment when their reason matches what I was trying to portray 🙂
