1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Chelsea. I did cheerleading and gymnastics for over a combined 20 years. After “retiring”, I needed something to do to keep me active and fulfill my competitive spirit. I started with Inanisty and eventually discovered running. When I started I couldn’t run a full mile, now I’m running the 2017 New York Marathon as a part of the St. Jude hero program. I also do the Bikini Body program. My goal is to inspire others and help people stay positive.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I am mostly posting about fitness related activities. I do post about foods, supplements and clothing.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I wanted something short and sweet. Run (the activity I do most) and Wilk (shortened last name). Plus, I like that it kind of sounded like someone cheering me on “RUN WILK!”
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use a lot of apps depending on the look I’m going for on that particular picture. I use ABM, Camera+, Picfx, Over, Rhonna, ColorSplash, FitSnap, Repix,VSCO and Photofy to name a few. Seeing the same type of pictures on an account can get boring, so I’m always working with new ways to spice up my content.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
This one is pretty easy for me. I’d definitely say MySweatLife – Kelsey. She is so positive and her content is always great. She’s always putting up great pictures and using Instagram in interesting ways (putting 2 close up pictures together to make a larger picture). Plus, she’s a total babe! I had the opportunity to meet her in person and she is just as sweet at it comes off through social media.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
I LOVE trying new things and love recommending things to people. I’m constantly recommending the Bikini Body Guide to friends and family. In fact, my entire group of girlfriends are either currently doing the program or are planning to start soon. I’m extremely passionate, and I’ve been told it is contagious. But right now, I’d have to way my number one product is the TALOS jump rope. Crazy right? I mean, it’s just a jump rope. No, it’s not. This thing is incredible. It moves so smoothly allowing me to get quick jumps in and get my heart rate up. Not to mention the plethora of tricks that are possible? This rope has got my competitive juices flowing. I think everyone who is involved with any type of fitness needs a rope like this.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I love sharing my passion with people. If I can inspire, motivate or introduce someone to something amazing they wouldn’t have heard of without my account, then I’ve done my job!
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Giveaways, giveaways, giveaways. I’ve discovered so many new bands that I now love through giveaways.
I maintain authenticity by always being honest. While I always try to be super positive, sometimes I’m not! I have bad workouts, I eat poorly, I skip a workout. I try to be very transparent about any struggles I may have. Sharing the good and bad, I feel, keeps my account real for people who follow me.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
This is extremely important. Whether you’re creating a different display of a motivational quote, or creating a new motivational quote. I find the simple mirror selfies boring and not too much effort. Mixing it up and taking pictures and adding effects or words or filters shows you’re putting time into your posts and it shows that you care. To me, accounts with content that is clearly just snapped and posted all the time get boring and old.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I love being able to share things I’m passionate about with people. If I find a great product, I want to scream to the world about it so everyone else can get it.
