Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Charlotte Lightbody @misscharlottecake

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Miss Charlotte Cake and I’m a baker and modern pinup lifestyle blogger here in Auckland, New Zealand. I’m an office manager, receptionist and social media gal by day for a wonderful travel company called Online Republic. We specialise in online travel bookings including cruises, car rentals and motorhome bookings all over the world. By evening/weekend (I’m pretty darn busy) I love writing for my blog which covers everything from retro and modern recipes, high tea reviews, pinup fashion, op shopping hauls, retro hair and makeup tricks and female empowerment.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I try to keep my Instagram themed to my pinup and vintage lifestyle. Lots of outfit photos and dessert photos.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Miss Charlotte Cake is my pinup name and I’m not 100% sure where or when it started. I have called myself ‘Charlotte Cake’ for what seems like forever. A Charlotte Cake is also a type of dessert which uses sponges fingers – very fitting.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Oh my… I’m probably the worst example for this question because I don’t actually edit my photos too much. I use photo grid and that’s pretty much it. I also use the Instagram editing tools to brighten images and sharpen them. That’s pretty much my editing routine haha.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Oh goodness – so many. Definitely Dita von Teese and Katy Perry for fashion and quirky humour. I also love Christine McConnell for her incredible food art and creativity.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

A really good high tea

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Getting to spread an honest message that I completely vouch for.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

If it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it. Remaining authentic to who you are and what your brand is about SO important. Your followers trust you and follow you for a reason… don’t ruin your hard work of building your following to be inauthentic.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Creating original, quality content takes time and patience. Look for ways to give your followers what they want, or what they don’t even know they wanted. Get inspired by everything around you, because it all helps to create your own quality take on whatever subject you’re talking about.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Being able to work with like-minded people and products or services that you truly believe in.
