Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Beverly Yip @saturdayhonwax

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m currently a university student, majoring in Applied Math in NUS but changing major to Computer Science – yes, I’m a total geek! Since young, I’ve immersed myself in music (I play the piano and cello) and explore new areas in uni. So, currently, I’m involved in NUS Street Jazz Dance Club and Tchoukball!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

On Instagram, I realised the photos that intrigue me the most would be photos of food, fashion, fitness and university life! Especially in fashion, I like to refer to instagram photos that help me improve my style, widen my horizons on the current trends and just improve my photography skills. I like to use my instagram as a platform to show others a glimpse of my life which mostly revolves around friends, food and fashion – the major 3 Fs of my life? HAHA

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It was in secondary school when a bunch of my friends decided to name ourselves after the days of the week, followed by something a little more unusual that girls do in our daily lives. During that period, people were strangely also calling me ‘Honey’ so i guess I conveniently slotted it in and that’s how saturdayhonwax came about!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I actually hardly use apps most of the time and like to just make use of the editing function Iphone gallery and Instagram has already provided for us! I just play around with everything really, from exposure to contrast! However, I do know of some who use VSCO very often and their photos really turn out gorgeous!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like imjennim, alexandrachua and yuminatuna for fashion, alexisren, bunnyjanjan and itzeugena for their style, instafoodsg for food ideas etc!
At the moment, I don’t really have any Instagrammer who inspires me but the idea of enlightening me on something does occur in multiple instagram photos in cases where they not only showcase beautiful photography skills but also stand out from the typical photos on instagram.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Fresh’s products – or try their new Rose products! I got the chance to try out their Rose Hydrating Skincare Ritual recently and I got to say it smells amazing and my face felt so renewed after the entire thing – it’s really worth a try!!! (I’ve suddenly become a major fan of Fresh because their products are really worth the money!)

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like how being an influencer still allows you to live your life like any other person out there while doing something you love and your followers love you for those very reasons! I’m also in control of what I wish to promote to my followers and love sharing with them what I like through a photo too 🙂

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think they should set the goals of the campaigns first and using that to choose which instagrammer you’d like to engage. Sometimes, just throwing campaigns to anyone with a high follower count might not get the results you desire!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I feel that every influencer’s content should be entirely genuine. Although there is a template or keywords we might have to mention depending on the brand itself, we should always try to include our honest experience!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I feel like this helps me experience/ use products that I’d never had the chance to if not for partnering with brands. It is because of such an opportunity that I’m also able to widen my areas of knowledge, give better tips and use better quality items in the future!
