Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Baz Tan @baztan

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, I’m Baz, a penangite living in Kuala Lumpur for about 7 years. I’m currently working in a creative agency and I’m a serious big fan of the K-Pop band named BIGBANG.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Mostly my travel log, I instagram most of my daily life such as foods and places that I found interesting to share with my fellow friends. I share news and updates about BIGBANG, the videos and pictures I snap while I’m attending their concerts and exhibitions.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is my own nickname, I thought about using a general name but then I find it a bit more comfortable to go on with my own nickname so that my account can be more personal and I can gain trust from my followers too.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Whether you believe or not, iPhone itself has the best editing tools, but of course sometimes you may found that some pictures needed a bit more touch so I have VSCAM & Meitu always ready in my phone.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

There are several, of course my favourite artist – G-Dragon will be my first choice, follow on will be wanderlust account such as @doyoutravel, and also some fashionistas from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan & Korea.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Foods!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part is when my friends/followers asking more info from me to try out new foods or explore new places, I love sharing information to everybody.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Try the more personal approach, try to run campaigns which will get a respond from audiences.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is the king and the quality is the queen. It has to go side by side and people loves nice candid shots more than very advertorial pictures.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’s a mutual partnerships that help each other, brands get to communicate with audiences better through influencers and as an influencer we get contents for our instagram too!
