1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
The name’s Aura Charisse. I’m from Manila. I grew up an artist, a dancer, a writer and in every cliché way, a dreamer. Devoted to the humanities, in love with music, books and history, I’m one who is fervent with life and the everyday journeys of people. I’m a multifaceted individual who is obsessed with my growth. I’m currently building my brand at the moment. My ultimate goal is to become a Girl Boss myself someday!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I’ve always been an artist at heart, so aesthetics is very important to me. I love posting about style, fashion, and beauty, as well as interiors, my travels, and nature’s innate beauty.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My Instagram name is actually my birth name. ‘Aura’ was lifted from my grandmother’s name, which is Aurora and ‘Charisse’ is translated from Greek as “grace”. Put together, the meaning of my name is “Dawn of Grace”.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use VSCO 90% and use Adobe Lightroom 10%. For VSCO, I like to settle with a single filter for all of my photos and manually adjust the settings (exposure, contrast, vignette, temperature, etc) to get a unified look for the feed. For Adobe Lightroom, everything is absolutely manual. I use this program when I edit photos in my laptop for my blog photos.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
There are plenty of Instagrammers I fancy, to be honest! There are different aspects of them that I admire —merge them all together = my idea of perfect Instagram aesthetic, which is creative, pleasing to the eyes, and authentic.
To narrow it down, I particularly love @kryzzzie, @xoxotsumi and definitetly, @colesprouse!
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Dare to achieve absolutely anything that they’ve always dreamed of their entire lives! Even if it means risking a complete 360 turn of their life!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
The biggest privilege for me is having a voice. I’m grateful to be able to extend myself creatively through my craft, whilst being an asset to society.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
I believe brands should be meticulous in choosing their ambassadors. It’s one thing to have the same principles between brand and influencer, but it’s equally important to always have in mind that the public figures are individuals themselves with their own abilities, identities and uniqueness.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Never force anything that’s not you. You can’t force blackberries to somehow magically transform to strawberries— just as you can never force yourself to create content that doesn’t speak to your identity. Be the fiercest blackberry there is and slay your way through life! I’ve always believed in the cliché, yet ever so accurate and relevant, mantra that is to stay true to yourself.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Endless opportunities!
