Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Athifah Ain Alang @athifahain

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a 23-year old Malaysian and a Bachelor in Social Science (Political Science) with Honors graduate from UKM, Malaysia. Started getting onto the social media platform as an active Blogger in 2008 and became better noticed through Vine in 2014. Is an active volunteer and event coordinator with iM4U and enjoys taking workations (yes! its where the company pays you to travel and work to places, at the same time enjoying an all-expenses vacay!). Waiting to pursue my Masters in International Relations at the University of Queensland in July!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My Instagram feed focuses on two: funny videos and travelling. Therefore you can see how passionate I am in making short videos of places I go and things that I do. As one of Malaysia’s #malayvines Viner, I also do short funny videos that is easily relatable with a pinch of humor.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name is basically my name. I prefer to be known by real name to all over all my social media platforms. That way, it’ll be easier to search me anywhere!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My feed is controlled feed in which I edit my photos using VSCO Cam and later minimising the photo with a square border using the Squareready app.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I basically follow people I know on Instagram. So you can say, all my Instagram friends are my inspiration.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

They gotta travel! Instagram feeds are more interesting when posting about places to visit!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part of being an influencer is being able to give back positive vibes to my followers. I want my followers to feel that they can make a difference and be different. As an active volunteer that enjoys travelling, I focus my influence to make my followers feel that they too can be a society changer with a sense of humor and an education. Another part is when people come up to me in public just for a selfie! I feel so loved, its indescribable!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I always see the number of followers they have and their testimonies if they do. Just to be sure that they’re product is legit and not a scam.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Always keep the content clean and simple. Using original photos instead of photos given by the brand is always better!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The free stuff! Its so much fun to be the first to try out their latest product! Who doesn’t want to be cooler before the cool is cool!
