Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Arnaud @fauxfur_institute

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I was born and raised in Paris. I have so many occupations right now : I promote my instagram account, I do fundrasing for causes. I also enjoy doing yoga, diving, cooking healthy food and I love fashion.
Most of all I travel a lot 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

The first idea behind my instagram page is to promote faux fur and the idea that you can have style and be fun while having a responsible approach to fashion. I like to promote creativity through my content.
A big part of the photo are curated by me or Stephanie (yes we are two behind our instagram ! 🙂 : we do a lot of research throught the web to find the best content and give some great pictures a second life. Other photos are our original content. We are planning to do more photosessions in the coming month.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Fauxfur_institute : I like the idea of an institute, a place where stylist, designers and fashion addicts can come and find inspiration wether it is for their personnal style or for future creation.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

The only thing I use are the usual instagram filters. I tend to bring mre light and play with shadows to the photo so it has more depth. Than I use the structure filter so the texture of faux fur is even more desirable.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I like to follow other faux fur brands like RomyLDN or Emma Brewin. I am inspired by Instagrammers who also bring a message behind their photos, who try to bring awarness on some certain topic with a simple powerful photo and a good phrase. Stella Mac Cartney for instance is a true inspiration.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

When it comes to Instagram I think it is important to not take ourselves too seriously. We alwyas have to keep the faculty of being able to stand back and observe things without getting mad (if you lose followers for instance).

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I guess I’am a begginner influencer. I learn everyday and that is definitely a great part of it. But the description I prefer is "ambassador".
The other great thing at being an influencer is to recycle wonderful photos and bring it to a new audience. Especially when you post a Throwback picture. Even if the photo is only 1 or 2 years old, in Instagram time, it is an eternity. So it is cool to give it a new youth.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

It is good to keep your feed coherent according to the Instagram criteria and to enquire regularly about the curent trends. Also it is good to credit the photo owner if you borrow it. Tag with at least the blog or the other page you took it from. Today marks the end of copyrights when it comes to socialnetworks, but still I am sure people appreciate honesty.
Don’t pretend the photo is yours if it is not the case, people will notice it.
Another key to keep authenticity for us is that we sometimes visit fashion schools, and meet real people. We also give interviews on some other blogs and even television. So our work has more substance.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

On instagram the concurence is huge. Make sure your photos are high quality and correspond to your niche. But also don’t hesitate to scroll down your page once in a while and clean it by deleting photos that were not so good after all.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

we had few interesting collaboration with emerging brands – the best thing is clearly to share with people who has the same vision or common goal. I think it is always touching when a new designer who is just starting his career get in touch with you to get help or just few words of kindness. I Love it !
