Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Anthony Banh @banhanthony

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m from Toronto, Canada. I have a huge passion for both business and photography, aiming to combine the two in the future. I’m currently working two jobs, one marketing and one retail. On my time off, I explore and shoot wherever I can even if it means waking up at 4am.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post mainly nature, outdoors, and travel photos while occasionally featuring friends and family that happen to accompany me on my impulsive road trips.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Instead of calling me Anthony, my friends would say things like, “Oh hey it’s banhanthony”. It’s become a thing, as if it is my own brand – it also rolls off the tongue.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use Photoshop if I’m feeling extra creative but mainly Lightroom for color grading.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@singyuhoo. He is the person who inspired me to dig deeper into this passion of mine. He’s constantly aiming to improve himself as a creative on a daily basis unlike any other.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Waking up at 4am and going on a random road trip with zero planning. Unplanned trips can become one of the most memorable.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

There is no better feeling than knowing that you’ve influenced someone to do something for the greater good. It’s most rewarding when you inspire someone to do what makes them happy.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Numbers don’t mean everything. There must be a deeper connection between the influencer and brand. A high follower count is great, but if the influencer doesn’t believe in the brand, what good is that? It’s also important to remain consistent. Changing what you stand for just to get likes and followers can be detrimental to the brand. Influencers and brands can maintain authenticity by simply being themselves and believing in what they do.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Being original has become a greater challenge for creators since anyone can pick up a DSLR or learn how to Photoshop. However, this should push creators to think differently in order for them to stand out from the crowd. You can even take something that has been done before and add your own personal twist to it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands provides people a chance to widen connections, learn new things, and meet new people. There’s a mutual benefit.
