Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Anna Dueck @numinmytum

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Anna and I’m the creator behind Num in my Tum. Growing up with delicious home baked goods and home cooked meals sparked my interest in expanding this love for food! I share my love of baking, food tutorials, great eats in Vancouver and features of other great foodies!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My page is about everything that could be ‘Num in my Tum’…get it! From video tutorials to my morning cup of coffee to delicious ice cream in the city, I show it all!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Good question! I don’t really remember! I’ve always been a fan of saying ‘nom nom nom’ as a hashtag or in person with my friends as we’re eating. I’ll be honest I think there was a limited number of options for Instagram usernames and that’s how Num in my Tum was created! Plus I love that it rhymes, it’s quirky and cute.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I’m not a huge fan of editing apps. I don’t like extra clutter on my phone. I prefer to use the editing settings in the photos app on an iPhone or within the Instagram app – just be consistent! I like to increase the brightness, decrease the exposure and make the colours in the food stand out through increasing the contract and saturation!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@savourandshine is a favourite, ran by a friend I grew up dancing with Britney! She posts healthy snacks and recipes using her nutrition degree, making it easier to eat well. @ohsheglows, @chocolatecoveredkatie and @fraichenutrition inspire me to be consistent in my content and images!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

If you live in Vancouver or are planning on visiting soon, you need to make a visit to Earnest Ice Cream. What started small, has expanded into something genius making your wait in line worth it! With whole flavours, rich textures and special ingredients makes it an awesome treat anytime of year!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Having the freedom to share my passion, connect with like minded people and eat amazing noms. The most exciting part is engaging with an audience of people that you weren’t expecting to be interested. Those who tune in to what you do, support your hard work and want to know more!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

The best advice I have to running a campaign is thinking through it first! There is a much higher risk producing content without taken into consideration the layout of images, perspectives and of course colours! Layout your images as they may appear on your Instagram profile so you can make sure the idea you’re trying to portray is achieved.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Be yourself! One of the most cliche sayings, but follow it! If you are quirky don’t be afraid, if your content is strictly business and personal, keep it professional. Engage with your followers, don’t be afraid to say thank you for their support and for their interest in what you’re producing!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands creates the opportunity for common interests to develop and form. Through the brand making a great product or service to the influencer incorporating it into their daily routine. A brand has an audience so I love to see the behind the scenes of what kind of consumer is buying the product!
