Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Angelica Gapit @angelicawanders

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi! I’m Angelica. I’m a Filipino-American, born and raised in California, but now living in Manila running 2 businesses at the age of 22. I operate a party platter delivery business, called Big Pockets, and I’m a co-owner of a travel agency called Strip Adventures, where we hold local joiner trips to destinations near Manila. Aside from all of that, I’m a full-time traveler.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My instagram theme is basically all about travel. I share my personal travel photos showcasing my passion for photography and videography. I call myself a ‘Visual Poet’ because I don’t exactly need words to express my emotion. My pictures and videos are enough to tell a story.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Angelica Wanders came from the fact that my name is Angelica and I wander way too much. 😉

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I do my initial edits through Snapseed (I only touch highlights, shadows, and saturation), then I move the picture over to VSCO (using 1 filter for all pictures on my feed), then move it over to Instagram for finishing touches (which is usually brightness).

That’s pretty much it!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

One of my biggest inspirations is Jay Alvarrez. His feed is glorious and his ‘Summer’ video showcases the beauty of travel and adrenaline perfectly.

Locally, I’d have to say Cha Ocampo and David Guison. Their feeds are clean and uniform, and it’s just nice to scroll through their feeds when I’m bored.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Well almost every Instagrammer has heard of VSCO. I’d have to suggest that. The paid filters are simple, easy to use, and flexible as to how you want your feed to look like.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It’s nice to know that there are people out there who are curious to see the places I go to, the things I do, and the products I suggest.

It makes me genuinely want to be a good influencer, not only for marketing purposes, but for future purposes such as environmental awareness or campaigns to save our wildlife. If I’m able to grab the influence of young social media users, then I could possibly make a change, even if just a small change, for the campaigns I want to help.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

First off, it’s not just the follow count that matters, it’s the ACTIVE followers that are important. You can have 10,000 followers and a few of them care about your posts, or you can have 5,000 followers and almost all of them react to your posts.

It’s all about getting the right person to promote your brand. Someone who has real influence over their people.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality over quantity any day, and also the photo has to match perfectly with the caption to entice viewers even more.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

X-deals are always appealing. Giving and getting. At the same time, you promote the brand, and the brand promotes you. It’s a win-win situation.
