Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Ángela Nuñez @_pinaymestiza

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hola! Mi nombre es Ángela and I was born/raised in England. I work for a global company that is expanding into the Asian markets, focused on supporting women worldwide and leading the industry within a specific sector. I founded my own image consultancy business (@styledbynunez) at the age of 15, with a growing clientele of 50+ internationally. I also lecture/mentor marketing students.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Most definitely TRAVEL! – I often travel by plane to a (new) destination every three weeks and I am very fortunate to have the opportunities to do so. I frequently visit art exhibitions and museums, so I often share posts enticing and encouraging my followers to visit them too. I also post photos of food because I loveeee to eat & love recommending dishes for my followers to try.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I wanted to make a simple statement of what my heritage is (Filipina + Spanish).
Piñay = Filipina.
Mestiza = People of mixed Filipino and any foreign ancestry.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I often use a photo app called ‘Afterlight’ to straighten and crop images. I will then adjust the saturation, brightness and sharpness within the Instagram editor itself.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@natepowelljp – he posts amazing & informative posts on Japan!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Kobe Beef! It is INCREDIBLE!! It is considered the most abundantly marbled in the world and worth every single penny! I even tried the beef in Kobe (Japan) itself!

DO make sure it is from a certified Kobe beef supplier/restaurant (visit: http://www.kobe-niku.jp/shop/?lang=1). Many restaurants/chef claim to serve Kobe beef, when infact it is Wagyu Beef. Remember: every Kobe steak is Wagyu, but not all Wagyu beef is Kobe.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I LOVE bringing the best out of people. I love motivating others and promoting the importance of self-investment & having the platform to positively uplift those I am surrounded by. I also love encouraging people to experience new places or try new foods.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Maintaining authenticity would mean staying true to your brand but also, being open-minded for change and something ‘different’.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Take time to do your research first! What do you want to tell your audience? What will the main message be in your post? And what is the purpose of your post? You must also think about what you would like your audience to do after they have taken the time to read your post and how you would like them to engage.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I believe it is important for partnering brands to build on similar values and with cultural synergy. What I like best is that partnering with brands is a GREAT opportunity to provide the brand with first-hand, honest feedback. This is crucial within their early stages of developing the product, as any ‘flaws’ are easier to correct at earlier stages.
