1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I grew up in a tiny town called Petal in Mississippi but when I was 19 I moved to Wales, UK. I’ve been in Wales ever since! It is a magical little country that I’ve fallen in love with. I also fell in love with yoga about two years ago when I began as a way to deal with old injuries from my gymnastics days. It turns out that yoga is the perfect combination for me between athletic and interesting movement with healing calm. Yoga has become the centre of my life.
I want to be able to influence others to get started in yoga, and I believe there are some really great brands out there which feel the same, and do this through providing excellent fitness and yoga products that help people feel more confident and excited about getting on the mat. These are the brands I want to work with.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I post about yoga, and I’m also a nature enthusiast. I want to promote a healthy lifestyle, particularly one that involves yoga and the outdoors. I believe that both yoga and nature provide everything we need for a calm and relaxed mind and an open attitude towards life’s ebbs and flows.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My instagram name, DragonYoga, combines my two passions: the Welsh landscape, and yoga. Wales is known as the land of dragons, and its flag even waves a red dragon across a white and green stripe. So, because my photos are primarily taken in the landscape of this land of dragons, it makes sense to be called DragonYoga.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I use only Enlight. It is very powerful and provides everything I need to bring my photos up to a good quality.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
There are so many! From a fitness point of view, my biggest hero is @yogoskenz. I also love @caribouyoga. Both these women are such inspirations to me. From a photography point of view, I’ve learned a lot from the way @dylanwerneryoga composes his photos. Another account I love is @chintwins, because I am also an identical twin so I love seeing these two beautiful women together doing yoga.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
I always recommend my photo editing app, Enlight. Editing my photos is my favourite part of the whole Instagram process.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I will always stay true to what I believe. So I love that I can help promote brands whose mission is to make the world a better place. They’re not about making loads of money or over charging for low quality. The brands I promote make people feel good about themselves.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Be transparent. I think when people can see what goes on behind the making of products, it shows them that it’s not some big business just turning the cogs. Brands like @werkshop are great at showing the small team and enthusiasm that goes into every product they make. This endears people to what they’re doing.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
For me personally, I like my instagram feed to inspire me. I like beautiful photos, interesting captions, and motivation to keep my own fitness and lifestyle the best it can be. So I keep this in mind when creating my own content. I try to keep my photos crisp and clean, my captions relevant and concise, and not post too often or too seldom.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
I just think that the world is a better place when people work together. We all need something from others. It’s nice getting free clothes as well, for sure, but I love that I’m part of a bigger story, rather than just working alone on my own little thing.
