1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
My name is Abby Jube, I’m 20 years old, and I’m from Provo, Utah. I’m a certified Ashtanga yoga instructor and have been for a little under a year. Yoga is a huge part of my life and has helped me to grow and shape who I am. I’m also going to school in Salt Lake City right now-I’m an Interior Design major. I absolutely love design and can’t wait for all the things I plan to do with it in the future. I’ve always been a visual person, and a lover of a good aesthetic and beauty. I also am a huge animal lover, like actually so much so that I’ll start crying if I see a really cute puppy or something. I also love nature more than I can express. Growing up in Utah, I’ve always lived right by the mountains, so I do lots of things outside like hiking, running, camping, skiing, and climbing. Other random facts about me: I’m a vegetarian, I play the piano, and I have pretty bad OCD (reminder: nobody is perfect. Everyone struggles with something).
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My biggest topics of interest (I kind of touched on these in the previous section) are art and anything artistic, interior design and architecture, color, anything pleasing to the eye, yoga, nature, modeling, and fashion. I post a variety of things on instagram, which include things like nature and pictures from hikes, yoga shoots, my pets, photos from shoots I model in, photos from any trips I go on, and anything I notice in my everyday life that I find beautiful or pleasing to the eye.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My instagram name is just my name. There’s something to be said for simplicity and straightforwardness. 🙂
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I like to keep it pretty simple, and I don’t like extreme edits, but I do like my photos to compliment each other and have a similar feel, so I’ll often do some minimal editing of lighting, contrast, structure, etc. in either vsco or just on instagram. But never anything too drastic.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
A couple of my favorites are carlyfoulkes and adrienneraquel. Both of them are pretty different from each other, but I just love the unique way that each of them shows their creativity through their photos and what they find beautiful.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
The boy brow from Glossier! It’s so easy to put on (I have no make skills whatsoever), makes your eyebrows look more full and even, and it looks really natural.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
The fact that I have a voice. That when I really believe in something, I have the ability to let people know, and to make more of a difference than I would without the use of social media. I don’t have a crazy amount of followers, but I like that I have the opportunity to inspire the followers I do have.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Use your own voice, that’s the most important thing. Just be yourself, and it’ll show, and people will appreciate it.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Everyone has different taste and everyone sees the world differently, so embrace that! Don’t exhaust yourself trying to see the world exactly the same way as someone else. You can pull inspiration from anyone or anything, but always do something to make it your own. One of my favorite quotes is from Meryl Streep: “What makes you different or weird – that’s your strength.” I think this important to remember.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Gaining experience, and the opportunity to share my interests and talents with new users who don’t know who I am. And it’s great to get practice collaborating with and communicating with people and companies. I’m young, but the world of social media is a business world, and I like that I have the opportunity to be a part of that.
