1) Have you always been a foodie? Which area do you like best? Do you treat food as one of the artistic areas to practice your photography skills?
Yes, people around me are always amazed at how much effort and thought I put into what I eat and where to go next for my next meal. I like taking photos of food such that people actually feel like they can almost taste the food through the photo. There are certain angles I usually use while taking food, and I’m quite particular about the arrangement too.
2) What makes a good food photo? What’s the most important detail for taking a good Instagram photo?
Angle is everything! But of course, the colours and presentation of the food are important too. We have to make sure we capture the details of the food without making the photo too busy and cluttered. If it’s a simple dish then maybe a flatlay with many other dishes to make it look more interesting, but if it’s photogenic then a close up shot would be good.
3) Finally, share with our readers one of the must-visit eating places in your country/city, and why?
I feel like people who come to Singapore have to eat at Old Airport Rd’s hawker centre, I love their oyster omelette and the hokkien mee the most! The Chilli is super power packed for the hokkien mee though so might not be for everyone. And to feel like a true blue local, wash it all down with sugar cane juice. The heart of Singapore’s food comes from our Hawker centers so of course if you want to sample local cuisine, it is a must!
