My friends snapped this photo of me walking along the ancient streets Monastiraki in Athens, Greece. I was born and raised in America but my mother is from Greece. So it is an honor to connect with the land of my ancestral lineage. Since I was a little girl, Monastiraki has been my favorite place to spend the day. You can see amazing viewpoints of the ancient citadel of the Acropolis, enjoy tasty Greek cuisine at traditional tavernas and shop for authentic souvenirs. My mother first took me here when I was only 6 years old to visit our enormous family. I immediately fell I love with my Greek heritage and culture. In fact, it was that trip when I knew I was not a citizen of America, but a citizen of the world.
Today I have been to over 45 countries and it’s been over 2 years since I’ve been back in The USA. I’ve learned that hOMe is where the heart is. It feels so good to be back hOMe in the Motherland. Proud to be a Greek / American.
