My own backyard court is definitely the realization of a childhood dream! 😍 Growing up in a city appartment, I had to get rid of my energy into a mini hoop right above the hallway door. However we had a family friend who had a basketball hoop in their garden, and I was just so jalous about that! Whenever we visited, I would eagerly jump onto that court and play from the moment we arrived until it was time to leave. It didn’t matter if it was raining, snowing or freezing. Those moments playing on that hoop where some of the best childhood memories I got. Now I can hardly wait to spend time with my family on this court, and create new memories! If you aspire to have your own private court, reach out to @swish.eu and psst if you tell them “Joerik told me” you will get an exclusive discount! 😉 #TrustTheProcess

Mastering shots in “No Man’s Land.” 🚷 Lots of shots open up deep in the paint, where it is awkward to send help defense. The most dynamic scorers in the game are automatic from these spots. The biggest mistake players make when using a jab & rip = Lifting or sliding the Pivot Foot Too Soon: In basketball, when you use a jab step or any other move involving a pivot, you must establish a pivot foot. The pivot foot is the one foot that stays planted while the other foot can move. A common mistake is lifting the pivot foot (the one initially planted) before dribbling, resulting in a traveling violation. Stay Aware of Footwork: Be mindful of your footwork during game situations. It’s easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment, but keeping track of your pivot foot can help you avoid traveling violations. Nothing more frustrating then beating your defender with the jab and then getting called for a traveling violation. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #TheSecretIsInTheBasics

initiating contact allows a player to establish their position, disrupt the opponent’s rhythm , and potentially give you the advantage. By being the first to engage, defenders can dictate the flow of the play and limit the offensive player’s options. By initiating contact as an offensive player, they can create and keep their driving lane and potentially create a scoring opportunity. In essence, this rule emphasizes the importance of being proactive and assertive on the basketball court. It encourages players to take control of the situation rather than passively reacting to opponents’ actions. Fun first day of Camp at Winnipeg 🇨🇦 with @goldenticketsports.inc #TrustTheProcess

One of the biggest mistakes I see when players struggle with making floaters is not knowing how to generate power, and trying to use a wristsnap on the release. Here is a breakdown going over the floater details: 1️⃣ Leg Power: Start by generating power from your legs. As you approach the release point for the floater, use a controlled and quick extension of the legs. This upward momentum will provide the necessary lift and energy for the shot. 2️⃣Shooting Arm: Your shooting arm should remain relaxed but coordinated with your leg movement. At the same timing as you extend your legs you extend your shooting arm upward, maintaining a straight line from your elbow to your fingertips. The power generated from your legs should transfer smoothly into your shooting arm’s extension. 3️⃣ Wrist and Finger Action: While your wrist doesn’t provide the primary power for the shot, it plays a role in creating the desired soft touch. Keep your wrist relaxed and your fingers spread. Instead of forcefully snapping your wrist, focus on a gentle upward push with your wristpalm as you release the ball. This action will help generate the high, soft arc that characterizes a successful floater. 4️⃣ Arc and Release: The combination of leg power, shooting arm extension, and controlled wrist and finger action will result in a shot with a high and soft arc. Aim to release the ball at the peak of your jump or slightly before you start descending. The soft touch and arc are essential for allowing the ball to drop gently into the basket. 5️⃣ Practice: To develop consistency with the floater’s soft touch, practice is key. Work on your leg and shooting arm coordination, as well as the controlled wrist and finger action. Focus on creating that high, soft arc during your practice sessions. Trust The Process
