What the caterpillar calls the end, the rest of the world calls a butterfly. I feel that way, in constant freedom to change. But how cool is it to play and feel free? There is nothing that can fight this feeling, not a state, not a law, not a religion, not an opinion, you just play and do whatever you want. I thought the same when I was studying at the conservatoire, why should I follow a phrasing by Ravel, if that phrasing was different for me from the way he feel it? Well on 28 July at the conservatory in Cuneo I will tell you how I had to unlearn everything I had learnt at school (and it was difficult), in order to be able to live with music in total freedom.
