Porsche announced today that it is expanding the functionality of the My Porsche App to provide new features within Apple CarPlay®. The sports car maker is the first automotive manufacturer to allow for easier access of vehicle functions within CarPlay®. The My Porsche App is the hub for the digital management and control of a Porsche vehicle. For example, it shows the state of charge of the vehicle battery, can adjust the air conditioning and send destinations to the navigation system. What’s more, the My Porsche App links existing accounts with third-party providers, for example Apple Music®, to the associated apps in Porsche Communication Management (PCM). Porsche Penske Motorsport finished round six of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in positions five and six. In the 2:40-hour race at Mosport, Canada, Englishman Nick Tandy and Mathieu Jaminet from France crossed the finish line in the No. 6 Porsche 963 just ahead of the sister car. Their works driver colleagues Felipe Nasr from Brazil and Matt Campbell from Australia were at times on course for a podium result but ultimately had to settle for sixth place. The customer car fielded by JDC-Miller MotorSports was the best-placed Porsche 963 in fourth place. In the GTD-Pro class, Pfaff Motorsports’ Porsche 911 GT3 R finished on the podium. The Porsche Penske Motorsport works team has finished the 6 Hours of Monza in fifth and seventh. The Porsche 963 fielded by the Hertz Team Jota customer outfit crossed the finish line on the Italian Grand Prix circuit in ninth place. At their debut outing in the Hypercar class, Proton Competition delivered a strong performance but had to retire early. Thanks to different pit stop strategies, all four hybrid prototypes from Weissach had at times led the field at round five of the FIA World Endurance Championship season. In the GTE Am category, the Porsche 911 RSR locked out the first three spots, with class victory going to Dempsey-Proton Racing. More details: link in bio.

Championship leader Thomas Preining from Austria won Sunday’s race at the Norisring, repeating his victory from last year, which was Porsche’s first in the DTM. In Saturday’s race, Preining’s Manthey EMA teammate Dennis Olsen took the flag in third place after showcasing the immense potential of the Porsche 911 GT3 R on Germany’s only street circuit. After six of 16 rounds so far this season, Porsche, Manthey EMA and Preining lead the manufacturers‘, team and drivers’ classifications in the DTM. Just metres into the race on the Formula 1 circuit in Silverstone, Dorian Boccolacci, Larry ten Voorde, Harry King and Porsche Junior Bastian Buus had to bury their dreams of victory. In the third corner, the four fastest qualifiers became entangled in collisions. As a result, all four were either thrown far down the field or forced to retire early from round three of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. Tackling the race from fifth on the grid, Alexander Fach promptly grabbed his chance: The 21-year-old Swiss racer effortlessly brought home his first Supercup victory. He was joined on the podium by the 17-year-old guest driver Robert de Haan from the Netherlands and Alessandro Ghiretti. The Frenchman also won the rookie classification. Works driver Felipe Nasr has qualified in fifth for round six of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In the hunt for top times in Mosport, Canada, the Brazilian was the fastest driver at the wheel of a Porsche 963. The sister car fielded by the Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team will tackle the race over 2:40 hours from ninth position. The ca. 510 kW (693 PS) hybrid prototype campaigned by JDC-Miller MotorSports turned the eighth fastest time in qualifying. Premiere for Dorian Boccolacci: Driving for the CLRT team, the Frenchman wrapped up a Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup qualifying session as the fastest for the first time. He shares the front row for round three of the season of the international one-make cup with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with Dutchman Larry ten Voorde. The GP Elite driver lapped the Silverstone Formula 1 circuit just 48-thousandths of a second slower than the polesetter. BWT Lechner Racing has locked out the second grid row: Englishman Harry King and Porsche Junior Bastian Buus from Denmark will tackle the Supercup race as part of the British Grand Prix support programme from positions three and four. Porsche has equipped the new Cayenne with extensively optimised engines. The generation E3 II is significantly more powerful than its predecessors. In addition, all variants are equipped with a revamped eight-speed Tiptronic S. With shorter reaction and shift times in Sport and Sport Plus modes, the automatic gearbox offers a noticeably improved performance. In Normal mode, the gearbox optimises the efficiency of the drive system. The Tiptronic S quickly shifts to the next higher gear to save fuel. Software optimisation also improves the interaction between the gearbox and the engine.
