We had a great time in 2021 executing programming and events at @hazelwoodgreen Plaza and in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood. We were joined by a welcoming community enthusiastic for new experiences, and are looking forward to activating this unique site for another year. Our initiative, @hazelwoodlocal, is a hub for both neighborhood activations and discovery. Most recently, we partnered with local artists to create a series of light art installations along the neighborhood’s historic commercial corridor, illuminating building storefronts for a reimagining of these spaces and elevated pedestrian experience. Stay tuned for more!
The first project of @speakupbroward’s BTactical program in Tedder, @cityofdeerfieldbeach is complete! Over five days, 78 volunteers and numerous organizations helped the project team transform a .5-mile segment of NE 3rd Avenue to be safer for all modes! With the addition of four new crosswalks, eight total new art crosswalks, bike lane protection, and a 4-3 lane re-configuration including sidewalk and curb extensions, the project team improved the corridor for walking, biking, driving, and rolling. The BTactical program focuses on implementing Quick Build projects to improve Broward County’s roadway network. Stay tuned for the next one!

Yesterday we launched phase one of #MoveCulverCity with an enthusiastic crowd led by @culvercitygov and Mayor Alex Fisch. The 1.3-mile project includes, bus lanes, bus priority signals, custom bus/bike boarding platforms, protected bike lanes, new bike signals, micro-mobility parking hubs, and the launch of CityRide, a battery-powered electric minibus to supplement other transit service. With more than 30,000 sq. ft. of murals representing the flora/fauna of nearby Ballona Creek, we believe this to be the larger #AsphaltArt installation in North America. The Culver/Washington Boulevard corridor now dedicates 2/3rds of street space to much more efficient, equitable, and climate-friendly modes of transport #TacticalUrbanism #QuickBuild @samschwartzeng
