Our feet are swollen and our backs are aching - but what a day we all had yesterday 🥹 First and foremost, thanks to all of the invisible links in the chain that holds Stockton Calling together - the bar staff keeping us watered, the kitchens keeping us fed, the security teams and stewards keeping us safe - and the cleaners who will have spent most of today getting everything back neat and tidy 😌 Thanks to the box office staff and the wristband teams for getting everyone in, the marketing teams for spreading the word - and the finance teams for balancing the books so that we can do it all again soon. Thanks to our volunteers for giving up their day to help keep things running, thanks to our media crews for capturing the day for posterity and our sponsors for helping the whole day to happen. Thanks to our promoters for putting together an excellent bill, thanks to the artists for being part of that bill, thanks to the audio and lightning teams for making everyone look and sound fantastic - and thanks to the stage managers for keeping everyone right. And of course thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and turned out in record numbers to yet another sold out Stockton Calling. Headlining The Storyteller's this year... Formed from corners of the UK’s industrial second city, @overpass.band came together at a young age with an undying desire to create. Some 3 years later, they have surpassed every milestone and expectation and are putting the region back on the map. @rosellas.band are named ‘Ones To Watch’ in 2023 by Radio XS Manchester. They intertwine their own contemporary smashing talent, bringing instant anthemic hooks infused with zeitgeist melodies. Heir-apparent to an indie dancefloor throne, @thelilacsofficial knack for sharp-tongued narratives and sticky, writhing beats make for an arresting proposition. Metropolitan & melodic, @officialthechase are a blend of cultural influences that pay tribute to their council estate roots. Over the years, the band have gained a dedicated fanbase that has launched them into the indie music scene & beyond. @bigfatbig erupted onto the North East music scene in late 2019, and have since gone on to prove that nothing – not even a global pandemic – will stand in their way. @therosadocsuk are a five piece alt rock/indie band rising up through the upcoming UK indie music scene. They are described as having meaningful lyrical roots with strong guitar driven melodies and anthemic, arena filling choruses. Hailing from Wigan, @barstaffband traded pouring pints for penning pop songs. Expect some feel-good, bedroom pop bangers. @wearedirtyblonde are a female indie-rock two piece from the North West. Described as ‘creating catchy foot stomping indie anthems for fun’ and ‘a ferociously exciting duo gathering pace as one of the most exciting acts to come out of Manchester right now’, the girls have quickly made a name for themselves as ones to watch. Headlining Sticky's stage this year... Real stories about real people and real life. That’s what you’ll find at the heart of every song by rising singer-songwriter @mickyygall from Hartlepool. Having inherited her music taste from her dad, @sarahjohnsone.music grew up listening to an eclectic range of genres, including rock, blues, jazz, R&B and reggae. In particular, she was influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse and Paolo Nutini. No matter what genre @bluelukeroyalty turns his hand to, he makes it work effortlessly. The Darlington based artist is as comfortable with soulful crooning vocals as he is rapping over sparse beats. @frankieejobling is Neo-soul singer, songwriter and co-founder of NEWISM from Newcastle. Like Adele if she was rock-chick cool, @viiagram's debut single Falling smoulders like a volcano about to erupt as it builds into a glass ceiling shattering mega-pop finale. Fringes and shades are back, and for @the.collectors.band, a 4-piece Britpop band from Stockton-on-Tees, their preferred version of the genre is the raw punkness of very early Oasis, where jeans were loose and solos even looser. @esmae_music_official draws upon her passion for old-school R&B and new-pop music to create a truly unique and timeless sound, inspired by a host of diverse life experiences. Outwardly trading in feel-good indie and care-free attitudes, @komparrison write songs with depth and startling observation to create an essential document of life as a working class woman in the North East.
