Even though she’s now based in State College, knowing that I spend half my time in Pittsburgh and she had shoots scheduled in the city, she finally got us to set a date for photos. She was raised Catholic, so abortion went against her beliefs. And there is no doubt in my mind that THIS is where our troubled relationship began. Yes, I’m grateful to be on this earth. Though that also meant that my mother had to look at my face every damn day. How much of her rapist’s face does she see in mine? Had she chosen to terminate the pregnancy back then, non-existent me wouldn’t hold it against her. She chose to carry me. She loved me the best that she could. Banning abortions doesn’t stop them from happening. It stops safer abortions. It forces women who can’t afford to leave their illegal states to seeks services elsewhere, forcing them to carry a child. Forcing them into a life they did not want. And what happens to that child? The mental toll it could take on everyone involved. Again, if you believe no one should have the rights to their own body removed, DO SOMETHING. And by all means, STAY MAD & VOTE! Last night, thanks to @andyseastcoastkitchen_’s post that made its way onto my FB feed on Saturday, I made my second loaf of bread EVER. It’s a “No Knead Market Style Cheese & Herb Bread”. And the “no knead” is what REALLY clicked with my lazy Sunday brain. Since we had leftover bacon from breakfast, I added bacon crumbles, used dried Italian herbs cuz I was too lazy to pick up fresh, and added a few sprinkles of @villageeatinghouse’s “Italian Spice Phenomenon”.
