“Jocelyn and I have always had a longing desire to have a dog in our lives, where we would often talk about how fulfilling it would be to embrace a dog who simply needs a bit of love in its life. Luckily for us, my brother in Canada had adopted a stray from Taiwan, which has exposed us to the wonders that a street dog can provide. Their affectionate nature, low energy drive, and unconditional loyalty show how a dog, no matter the breed, simply appreciates a home and a good family. We weren't exactly looking this time around, but when we saw Jerry's profile, we felt compelled to enquire. Seeing a dog of his age without a forever home really hit our soft spot, and we couldn't believe that no one has shown interest. Ever since our first meeting, his company added such an extra level of comfort, that we had to organize our 2-week trial promptly. Initially Jerry was apprehensive and kept his distance, but we accommodated to his needs, and tried to win him over with affection and walks. Slowly, we could see that Jerry was getting comfortable. He went from taking short 10 min walks, to always wanting to go further, and he's even started to climb stairs. We could see the improvement in his demeanour, because he became more 'puppy-like' each day. Although he tends to sleep for most of the day, he's sure to wake us up promptly each morning for his breakfast and exercise. He also never fails to approach us with his waggish tail when we come home at night. What still makes us laugh is how Jerry would always come check on us, if we happen to walk away from whichever room he's resting in. We love having Jerry, and we love giving him all the cuddles that he needs in his golden years. Thank you SOSD, for bringing him into our home.” Thank you Ian and Jocelyn, whose hearts have embraced the wise old soul, Jerry, now 13 years strong, into his forever home! Six months old HDB approved Cruffin is a delightful blend of affectionate and playful. He spends half his day in slumber, and the other half seeks engagement through play, games, or training. His interactions with kids have been limited, but they've been positive so far. He exudes friendliness and is enthusiastic about play with other dogs, and learning to remain calm in the company of other dogs. While Cruffin is proficient with a pee tray, he has a preference for grass. He responds promptly to Wait, Stay, and Recall cues. Additionally, he demonstrates a keen understanding of leash pressure during walks. Cruffin is a food enthusiast and revels in unrestricted runs on an extra-long leash. He adores sleeping in air-conditioned areas, relishes car rides, and delights in water play with fellow dog friends under supervision. He exhibits confidence and adaptability in new environments with proper introductions and support. He may be able to sleep alone at night, provided he's sufficiently tired and the room isn't overly warm. Do expect some barking or whining when Cruffin is left alone, unless all his basic needs—food, toilet, exercise—are met. He might show a passing interest in chewing on shoes, but he's otherwise content with his chew toys and treats, leaving other items untouched. With puppyhood in full swing, Cruffin maintains a medium-high energy level. This is in addition to his impressive 18-20 hours of daily beauty sleep! Meet Dipsy, your new best-friend-to-be! 🐶 This 2-year-old sweetheart is looking for his forever home and family. He is medium-energy and also HDB-approved 🏠 Dipsy is very intelligent and learns quickly. He is grass and pee-pad trained, and understands basic commands. He is independent enough to be left alone or sleep alone, and also self-entertains himself with toys. Our adorable boy is extremely affectionate with his favourite humans and doggy friends but may take time to warm up to strangers. Given enough time and space, you will get to appreciate his endearing qualities and what a gem he is once he establishes a sense of trust. Very curious, Dipsy is always excited for walks, using these outing opportunities to explore and familiarize himself with his surroundings. He can be slightly particular about meal timings and has some food allergies hence is currently on a hypoallergenic diet to help with his skin issues. Part of what we do at the shelter is tending to the medical needs of our dogs. Yuan Yang was diagnosed with kidney failure earlier this year, and needs to be given 500ml of fluids daily! Our daily subcut sessions are precious, quality time spent with him, and we believe he feels the same way too 🥰 However, we know the best scenario is for him to find a forever home, a loving family. Dapper 1 year old Archie (NOT HDB approved) is an active boy who loves to spend time muckin’ around with his doggo friends. He’s great with children, and is already grass trained, so you won’t need to worry about any potty messes inside! He’s a perfect companion for an active family who also enjoys their downtime - he’s perfectly happy taking a nap or chewing on toys if you’re busy watching TV. Archie has proven to be generally OK with strangers, but might bark if he feels intimidated. His foster family has been working hard with him in their training sessions, and he’s learnt so many new tricks, including more difficult ones like weave, spin, and touch! We also discovered that Archie has a natural talent for dog sports, and this has been a game changer in terms of helping him drain his puppy energy. It’s important to remember that because Archie has so much energy, his potential furever home should be committed to both physical and mental stimulation for Archie! He’s been known to destroy parts of furniture in the house otherwise. Archie is also sensitive about his paws being touched, and will let you know with a gentle growl.
