Some people come to Slowness and fit like a missing puzzle. Arya, Bharti and Devang were those people. They spend a week here and as much as they enjoyed their time here Slowness enjoyed it more. A farm is complete when there is interaction between lives, when soil is walked upon, when plants are touched, when insects and birds are looked at curiously, when dogs and cats are played with. And when we see that happening here at Slowness all the work and sacrifices seem worth it. We are surely going to miss these lovely humans and hope to see them again. We think after 3 years of having strawberries in our garden , we can finally say ‘we know our strawberries!’. An understanding of plants come to us only after spending enough time with them. This year on the onset of spring , we started working on our strawberry patch. Gudai, nikai, khaad, mulch and water. We removed the old foliage and made space for the new leaves. And as the summer came along, all the flowers turned into fruit. Each plant is loaded with 20-25 strawberries and is flowering more. So yes , this means strawberry in Shakes, Salads and cakes. Summers are almost upon us and that means abundance of food. Food that is as much fun growing, as it is picking and eating. Next few months would be about finding wild berries, picking fresh fruits, making juices, jams and chutneys. Everyone in the village would be busy for two months in picking, packing and dispatching fruits.
