TWO CANNIBALS EATING A CLOWN – in production A new collection of sculptural seating works for six sites across Dagenham’s Beacontree Estate. To celebrate the Centenary of Dagenham’s Becontree Estate in 2021, @createlondon is working in collaboration with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) and local residents.  This commission is part of five infrastructure public realm improvement projects as part of the 100-year anniversary celebration of the estate.

TINY LITTLE WITCHES HOVERING, 2021 A new collection of sculptural furniture for Bull Yard, Coventry. Circular benches enclose trees, a gently arcing table and seating cuts across the square, assorted stools and bench variants offer rest at the edges of the public space and around the new play area PREACH TRADE PLAY. The forms are built up from simple geometric forms - the slab, the cylinder, the cone, with playful coconut sized hemispheres poking through the surfaces. The materials are two new Coventry mixes, the colours and stone inspired by the Hollington sandstone and green slate of the Cathedral and the surrounding post war Bull Yard shopping parade. The pink mix is polished to a smooth terrazzo finish, whilst the aggregate of the dark green mix exposed to create a textured pebble dash like finish. Together with the new play area the works create a new piece of public realm at the centre of Coventry. The title comes from the mind of Jim Moir. SILENCE - Alone in a World of Wounds Charlie Burrell, owner of the Knepp rewilding project and co-founder of The Oak Project, comments: “The landscapes of the UK may look green and pleasant, but the reality is habitats are fragmented and nature is struggling to hold on in small pockets. The sound of our countryside is indeed increasingly that of silence. But we know that through reintroduction of wildlife corridors, green bridges, regenerative farming practices and rewilding, nature can rapidly recover. 2021 will be a pivotal year in tackling the nature and climate emergency, with world leaders negotiating last-resort targets at two global United Nations summits. There has never been a more important time to reconnect people to nature and turn our silent spring into a raucous summer.” Commissioned by @oakprojectuk - a partnership between @yspsculpture, the University of Derby and the Bronze Oak Project Ltd, a not-for-profit that promotes art as a way to create nature connection. Over the next five years, the project will pioneer arts-participation to create kinship with nature.
