And that’s a wrap on 2021 Within the space of the year we’ve rebranded to surf wear makers, collaborated, lost our Instagram and rebuilt our community, had machines break and many many all nighters sewing. I could go on all day about the challenges of self employment but the most important thing I’ve learned along the way has been the importance of community. Thank you for all that’s supported my small biz. Counting down the weeks until I graduate and can get back into making suits for you all. As of this evening I am closing my store for the winter. This decision was definitely a reluctant one however I have to devote all my time to finishing off my degree. I am currently working on my Final Major Project for my fashion degree. As part of my concept I am creating a range of products to be sold on here in the summer. I want to give this project my all and learn as much as I can in my short time left on my course. During the winter months I will be working on products, a business plan and preparing myself for this business to become my career from the summer onwards. I am super excited/ blessed to have this as a job lined up. A Massive thank you to those who have all supported my small biz in its first ever chapter. I am overwhelmed at the response I got from it’s first ever year. I will be posting updates and documenting the process of the development of my new products. There seems to be an unspoken fear amongst some women in surfing, no matter their level. For me, there’s a worry I’m going to be the only female in the line up and that guys will drop in on me. Surfing male dominated lineups can be soo intimidating. When I was learning I had no idea that others felt this way. However it’s so refreshing to be part of a community of girls that I can learn from, go on surf with and feel comfortable around, be inspired and make new friends.
