• B O N A I R E • 🇧🇶 🤿 🦩 ☀️ . Highlights of my first visit to the island of Bonaire. One that I had never heard of before but feel pleased to have discovered. 🐠 . For those who don’t know it’s a municipality of the Netherlands not too far from Venezuela in the southern Caribbean. Known for scuba diving and snorkeling there are many sights to see underwater, including above, with opportunities to windsurf and kite surf as well. . Now there is a small resurgence of yoga happening thanks to @mysore.yoga for setting the stage. . The unsettling part about yoga practice is when sincere on the path the exposure of the shadow is inevitable. No one is immune to it. However, many can choose to ignore as well as justify what lingers. The real work is not defense, but to take responsibility. It’s more than just being in the scene and dedication to asana. . I find it interesting when people think they can compartmentalize life for everything is connected whether you like it or not. Everything. There’s a ripple effect to every choice and encounter. Sure, some may say well, it’s just business and this separates this from that, but they are misled in the desire for self preservation and justification for behavior they don’t want to own. This is what makes the world as it is. Until there is a vision and practice for inter connectivity we will continue to live in our boxes of safety that will turn into a prison. . Free yourself. Life has been full lately. Not because life has been busy but because it has felt meaningful. There has been so much to take in since the start of the year. It’s almost hard to believe we have almost reached the halfway point. Accepting that certain challenges will be hard makes things easier. However, wanting circumstances to be easy makes things more challenging. That’s the paradox. . My journey back into backbending has been interesting, fascinating and challenging. Slowly. Slowly. Also, the epiphany on how emotions get locked in the body, especially the back is a whole other story in itself. One day, I’ll be open to share. Nothing needs to be said or defended. Just be. Sure, there will always be those who try to belittle or feel superior. What to do? Just wrapped another retreat in Mykonos with @fykiadaretreats 🩵💙🧿🇬🇷 . I always meet phenomenal and interesting people who attend and this trip was no different. Annette, @chandra_ayurveda_astrology, was a welcome participant and while striking up a conversation she mentioned her passion and work with Vedic Astrology. Which is very nuanced, intricate, multifaceted and undoubtedly interesting. She did my reading and I found it fascinating. It confirmed many of my own impulses and clarified others. As well as gave greater understanding why I am in a challenging season at the moment. I found it so enlightening. . Simplicity. 🤍 The further I go the more essential simplicity becomes. To realign with what’s truly important. Something that doesn’t rely on the validity of other people’s opinions, or misguided judgements. In the end, the yoga practice only exposes what we need to acknowledge. The answer is in the question.
