The Centre blocked 59 apps with Chinese links that included the hugely popular TikTok and UC Browser today, amid a huge economic backlash against China following the June 15 clashes at Ladakh in which 20 Indian soldiers died in action and more than 70 were injured. Sources said intelligence inputs suggested that the apps have been violating the terms of usage, compromising users privacy, and being used as spyware or malware. In a statement, the government said the apps were blocked "in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order". . . Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased people. 'A major incident of a vehicle-borne IED blast was averted by timely action of Pulwama Police, CRPF and Army'. . According to officials, security forces prevented a car bomb on Wednesday night after they stopped a vehicle carrying over 20 kgs of IED. Following a tip off, the car was asked to stop at a check point at Ayengund area. However, it did not stop and security forces opened fire. . The driver, police say, managed to escape, leaving the IED laden car behind. Police said they had input about the car and were looking for it, however, the car had a fake number plate on it. People living in nearby houses were evacuated, police said. . During checking, an IED was found fitted in the vehicle, which was later defused. .. .. At least twelve people were killed and many severely injured due to Cyclone Amphan, which made landfall in West Bengal today.
