Can you believe that over 42,000 pounds of excess hair colour is thrown away every day? Excess hair colour, lightener or toner from salons can be a big waste of money and destroy plumbing. But it causes even bigger environmental problems! When rinsed down the drain, it finds its way back into our drinking water and soil. How do we recover it and give it a new life? Excess hair colour will either be turned into clean energy or be separated into oil and water. Water is cleaned and returned to the water system and the oil is blended into fuel! 📸: @essandcay

Think hair will break down in a landfill? Think again! A garbage bag of hair produces greenhouse gasses as it tries to break down, which leads to climate change. Hair needs air and moisture to decompose - this is why it’s important that we sort and recover the 63,000 pounds of hair that gets thrown away everyday. ♻️ Here’s some of the ways we repurpose hair: 💚 Manufacturing sustainable combs made of hair and recycled salon plastics 💚 Creating bio-composite products like recycling bins 💚 Compost it with other organic waste 💚 Use it to develop new environmental technologies 💚 Made into products for humanitarian efforts 📸: @essandcay

From trash to treasure! Our Green Circle team had a lovely time last night at a @sukissalons’ event hosted by @salondanielyorkville. Daniel showcased his newest photography collection, “Treasures & Trash”. The collection was inspired by trash he found on the street and coral he found washed up on the beach.
