Five beautiful jars of blackberry jam and a black berry pie from the wild black berries that Daniel collected on his walk. I love that black berries grow like weeds here. I’m also glad they are not in my yard! 😂 I’m going to start doing more canning as we get harvest from our garden. But also since we are on a pantry challenge this month it will be fun to add some homemade variety. The pantry challenge has a few purposes: eat through stuff we have to make room for what we really love, to see what we eat more of and focus on those things, to save money to give us some extra cash for our stairs project, and to encourage more home cooked meals. A beautiful harvest today! This is from our front yard garden. We froze 3 big bags of corn, collected 8 spaghetti squash, more squash, and a big bowl of brussel sprouts. Our brussel sprouts didn’t do great. We also planted a good amount of onions and some lettuce. Worked on the pea/bean trellis. Whew I’m tired.

Daniel went berry picking in a near by Forest and came home with a big bucket full or perfect blackberries! One thing I am looking forward to about getting land is more chickens. We get about 6 eggs a day and those get ate pretty quickly. We never have enough to do quiches! So this is a special treat!
