If you’ve been in Foster East Lansing, you’ve probably heard Gavin cracking jokes about something. He initially started in June of 2022 as a barista and is now the official Assistant Manager of the cafe. When asked what initially drew him to work at Foster he said, “my passion for coffee and people lined up with the values and mission to Foster community through coffee.” His favorite thing about Foster is a tie between the coffee and the amazing people he’s met along the way. A fun fact about Gavin is he and his wife were on an improv team in high school, where she initially had a crush on him. He thought she was weird and it took him a couple years to realize he was also “weird” and they were a perfect match! You can find Gavin in East Lansing making people laugh through sarcasm, ordering supplies for the shop, all while sipping on a Cortado. Swipe all the way to the end to see Gavin's true nature!

That sweet coffee bloom. For those unfamiliar with this term or process, the coffee bloom is the initial foaming or bubbling during the brewing process when add water to ground coffee. It's the release of CO2 and some oils from the inside of ground coffee, as water begins to soak into the coffee grounds and displace those elements. Following that displacement of gas of the coffee ground in the brewer, the remaining water used in the brewing can dissolve and extract flavor evenly and consistently. So we use (and recommend) the bloom in drip coffee and pour over coffee options to provide tasty and repeatable results in your cup.

THE FOSTERYAKI WRAP. Cancel your lunch plans... Unless your plans are to come to Foster to enjoy this new teriyaki inspired wrap. We've assembled, sausage, bacon, pickled onions (made in-house), crispy wontons, and greens with our house-made Fosteryaki and sesame aioli sauce. Pair with your favorite Foster drink and let's go crush this week!

FRIED RICE BOWL. Next up on the new food lineup is this vegetarian option (you can also add bacon or sausage). This fried rice medley cooked in our house-made Sriracha sauce with celery, red onion, garlic, green onion, and topped with house-made sesame aioli and almonds. It’s got a tasty kick, but in all the right ways 🌶️.

NEW BREAKFAST BISCUIT. We're kicking off a new line of food items at Foster and we'd like to take a few minutes to introduce you to your new favorite breakfast item. We weren't satisfied with just any biscuit, so our bakery team developed a made-from-scratch buttery biscuit. Then we add egg, cheese, and your choice meat (bacon or sausage). Yes, you can have both. Then we drizzle our honey remoulade sauce throughout to make this a mouth watering sandwich to kick off your day. Great for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Get it today at Fosters everywhere.
