Continuing on till we finish all 5! I used to be a big “gotta burn that brownie off” kinda gal. I’m very glad that’s not Connie anymore- life is so much better without guilt as a side with my food.

Meal support Monday 💃🏻 I love eating in session with clients. I love it even more when I get to have my favorite breakfast as of late- hash browns plus pasture raised eggs + lots of coffee and cream- obvi. Wishing you a day of honoring your hunger and choosing food that sounds good to you 🥰

Can’t have a trip home without visiting my favorite neighborhood Bougainvillea at least 10 times. I’m very ready for Denver to bloom!

1. You’re a human being not a human doing. 2. Rest and sleep are essential to a body that can perform physical activity well and not resent it. 3. If guilt is lingering around your exercise routine that usually means you’re doing that exercise for external validation. You can’t make it very far with that. Try asking yourself “if my body didn’t change from movement what movement would I choose?” That usually gets ya closer to authenticity and a life long healthy relationship with movement.

Just here with an appreciation post for this gorgeous state I get to live in and for making intentional time for fun and life outside of work. I feel so fulfilled by my work AND it’s not the only thing about me. This mindset has helped me reduce burnout for the first time- like ever- and it feels awesome. Wishing you a wonderful week that I hope includes some time spent enjoying some sunshine or a hobby you love or with people you love.

You asked and you shall receive. 1. Sitting is 1 met. Anything 3+ is wonderful for you. Taking your daily walk or cleaning the whole house with a dance party is around 3.5-4+ Mets. The stairs at a quick pace? Like 9 METs! 2. Think of starting from zero and everything you add is getting you to that 150 minute mark. Each minute is like a penny in a piggy bank. You don’t just have to go to hour long classes or hit some arbitrary time limit for it to “count”. It all counts. 3. Often times we are pushing ourselves way too hard to achieve some body that wasn’t actually meant for us. This was a huge step for me to de tangle my relationship with exercise. I had to ask myself what I actually enjoyed doing and stop trying to make it about looks. Eternally grateful did this work and get to help clients do it too. Also, as always- this information is general. If you have specific questions regarding food and exercise that would be great for an individual session. (Link in bio!)

I asked about activewear on stories last night and it prompted me to share this. 1. Intense workouts can do more harm than good a lot of the time- ESPECIALLY if you already are pumping out cortisol from whatever stress you are going through or if you are undernourished. Please move in a way that’s appropriate for you and only you ❤️ 2. You might be using exercise as a distraction. Feeling like we need to be “doing” all the time is a sign we need to sit down and handle what’s going on in our mind. 3. This mentality is a fast track to disordered eating. 4. This simply isn’t how bodies run. Food is food. Brown rice and a burger bun break down to the same darn things. It doesn’t “undo” anything you just did in your workout. 5. If an influencer is using their body as a business card trying to get you to purchase a plan- that makes me incredibly sad.

A quick way to get me fired up is to hear providers suggest weight loss or a restrictive diet to manage diabetes. This will always backfire. Here are some things to do instead. 1. Carbs aren’t the devil. There’s not a single human body that doesn’t need carbs. No matter what diagnosis you have (ok except epilepsy). 2. Gentle movement makes our cells more receptive/sensitive to insulin. Insulin is the key to unlock our cells to allow glucose (carbs) inside for energy. 3. In order to keep our blood sugar nice and even we need to maintain that every 3 or so hours- bodies aren’t meant to go long periods of time without food- except when sleeping.

Over the last few months Tuesdays have become my favorite day of the week. I’ve established a rhythm that feels life giving to me after my work day. I get to go to dance class and grab something yum to eat- usually some tacos and a marg or a huge slice of Cosmos pizza. Sometimes friends join- sometimes not but I end every Tuesday in a smile - and after a season of life where joy was hard to find for a long while there- I’m so grateful. Do you have a day of the week you look forward to?! Also for those asking- Overalls- @oldnavy T shirt and scarf- @madewell Glasses- @warbyparker

I understand why Julie Andrews said that snowflakes that stay on her nose and eyelashes were one of her favorite things. She found joy in a season that for most, is not very joyful. Cold days, sadness, dark evenings, no greenery on the ground or trees, and a reminder that like the 4 seasons, there are seasons of life- some more filled with death and loss, than others. If you are in a hard season of winter like I’ve been (in a literal- and figurative way) I hope you can meet yourself where you’re at- I hope you feel deeply and allow this season to just be- and sometimes also get to enjoy the snowflakes on your nose and eyelashes. Or ski…I think Julie left that one out 😂 and that is definitely joy in the season of winter!
