‘She who dares Rodney'... are the words I wrote on a blackboard about 10 years ago when &Daughter went from being a back-of-a-napkin business plan, to becoming a fledgling something more. This International Women's Day we celebrate all of our brilliant female makers and partners whose skill and creativity make &Daughter possible. And my Granny, Mary Reid, the original entrepreneur; a mother of seven, who read the newspaper cover to cover everyday, made soup from foraged seaweed and knit the most brilliant jumpers without ever looking at a pattern. Long before I knew, she taught me the value of knowledge, the beauty of craft and to always be curious. #internationalwomensday

💧💧It is often said that water is the key to the quality and feel of a good yarn. The purity of the water washes and softens the fleece in a unique way, bringing the fibre to life. Our cashmere and lambswool yarn is spun on a nature reserve in Loch Leven, Scotland. Our spinners have been spinning there for hundreds of years using only environmentally friendly dyes and processes to ensure the water used from the Loch can be cleaned and returned without harm.
