Telangana state government has instituted an Award in the name of Babasaheb Dr B R Ambedkar commemorating his birth anniversary today. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced the award at a public meeting held after unveiling the 125-feet tall bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on the banks of the historic Hussain Sagar Lake. The Chief Minister along with former MP and grandson of Babasaheb, Prakash Ambedkar unveiled the statue. The Chief Minister said, 51 crore rupees corpus will be formed for the award and every year the award worth 3 crore rupees will be given on the birth anniversary of Babasaheb to anyone who contributes for Dalit Welfare . Stating that 50 thousand Dalit families have been benefitted in the state so far under Dalit Bandhu programme, the Chief Minister said over one lakh families will be befitted under the programme during the current year. Prakash Ambedkar said, the real tribute to Babasaheb will be to follow his principles.

The country has registered over eleven thousand one hundred new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The Union Health Ministry said, a total of over six thousand people have recovered from COVID during the same period. The Ministry said, there are over 49 thousand active COVID cases in the country and the recovery rate currently stands at 98.70 per cent. It said, over 220 crore 66 lakh vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued summon to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi excise policy case. Sources said, Mr Kejriwal has been summoned by CBI for questioning on Sunday. The excise policy - 2021-22 came under the scanner after Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in its implementation. Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has already been arrested by CBI in this case.

The two-days international meeting of Women 20 organized under G-20 in Jaipur concluded today. The second day of the meet began with a yoga session. This was followed by a session on Grassroot Leadership and Entrepreneurship, in which various speakers presented their views. The session was also addressed by Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Jardosh. In her address, Mrs Jardosh said that the need of the hour is to empower women economically, socially and politically. She also discussed in detail about the steps taken in this regard by the Central Government in the past few years. This meeting focused on the theme of “Women Led Development Leverage Women’s Untapped Potential to Accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Future.” India’s W20 agenda focuses on five key priorities: Women’s Entrepreneurship, Grassroot Women's Leadership, Bridging the Gender Digital Divide, Education & Skill Development and Climate Change.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur is on a tour of Himachal Pradesh. He inaugurated judo and boxing hall along with a badminton court at National Center of Excellence of Sports Authority of India at Anu in Hamirpur district today. On this occasion, Anurag Thakur said that under the Khelo India campaign, an amount of about Rs 3200 crore will be spent on sports facilities during 5 years.
