Do you freeze when you hear the word ‘accountability’? We get it. The term is regurgitated so often in self help that it can seem punitive, or void of meaning. But accountability is actually brimming with flexibility and opportunities to learn about yourself. If you’re working with a coach, the more comfortable you get with being honest with them about where you’re at, the more honest you can be with yourself. It’s a chance to really see what’s been tripping you up with your training and nutrition. Accountability is the difference between having a week of being on track, then missing some workouts and going on a bender, OR accepting you had a slip up and bouncing back, no drama. Accountability means you reflect, learn a lesson and make actual change. When you’ve got someone on your side to chat to about your roadblocks (maybe how you self sabotage?) it eases up the internal tension, helping you find and follow the best way forward. Remember: accountability and coaching isn’t about punishment – if you’re struggling with your healthier habits, it’s your chance to ditch the stuff that doesn’t work and make changes that actually do. After all, getting a coach means that you’re seeking help with the things you haven’t been able to do by yourself, right? Accountability isn’t superficial self help: it’s transparent collaboration with someone experienced, so you undergo genuine growth. Ready to show up better for yourself and transform how you look, move and feel? 👉 DM us to learn more about coaching (online or in person)

Want to maximise your results from coaching? Here are three tips we share with new clients to get the most from their coaching journey at 5EW: 1. Talk to us and be open: Share the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens. If you skip workouts or feel overwhelmed by tracking data, let us know. We aren’t here to judge; we’re here to help you meet your goals. Adjustments to your training and nutrition plans can always be made to better meet you where you’re at. 2. Embrace new habits: Change can be challenging. Some of the habits and training we recommend might push you out of your comfort zone – that's where the magic happens. So, come with an open mind and give ‘em a try. You might just be amazed at what you can achieve. 3. Trust the process: Getting results from personal training and coaching doesn’t happen overnight. So, don’t get disheartened if you don’t see instant changes. Whether it's improved sleep, increased energy, enhanced strength, better posture, or fat loss, consistent effort will bring results. 🤝 Need some guidance with your fitness and nutrition journey? Send us a DM! Let's schedule a FREE 1:1 session and see how a 5EW coach can move you closer to your goals @5ElementWellness • #5EW #Fitness #HolisticHealth #HolisticGym #OptimalHealth #holisticmelbourne #motivated

We usually don’t program advanced explosive exercises at 5EW – let’s face it: we aren’t all athletes, and we don’t need to be. Doing explosive movements like box jumps, burpees and high impact training puts a lot of unnecessary pressure and strain on our ligaments and tendons. If your body isn’t conditioned for this type of training, or you don’t have enough recovery time between sessions (like athletes who get paid to spend hours to stretch + recover thoroughly), then your knees and ankles aren’t likely to hold up well in the long run. ❌ The continuous impact on joints can cause deterioration, and over time, the likelihood of getting injured creeps up too. Don’t get us wrong, there’s a time and a place for all forms of exercise, but at 5EW we program for longevity and strength for life. We focus on improving your posture, strength and flexibility to build a resilient body that carries you well into your future.💪 If you're struggling to maintain a consistent routine with your exercise without overdoing it: our DMs are always open. @5ElementWellness • #5EW #Fitness #HolisticHealth #HolisticGym #OptimalHealth #holisticmelbourne #motivated

Love the adrenaline rush from high-impact high-intensity workouts? While high-impact training can be good for conditioning, it's also going to put a lot of stress on your joints, increases likelihood of injury, and can cause your hormones to go out of whack… ESPECIALLY if you’re already super stressed and busy... and who isn't these days 😬 The Culprit: Cortisol Too much of this stress hormone gets ramped up from this common style of training can lead to fatigue, sleep issues, weight gain, and even a dip in your sex drive. We often hear from clients how high-impact training has left them frayed around the edges - you're not the only one. Here are a few things you can do: 1️⃣ Fuel Up: Reduce your fasted workouts and have a snack rich in carbs and protein before hitting your sessions. 2️⃣ Rest Up: Don't underestimate the power of rest! This is where the magic happens for improved performance and healthy hormones. Take regular rest days between workouts. 3️⃣ Strength Train: Make your fitness foundation strength training! Plus incorporate some yoga/pilates, and low impact stready state cardio. This approach will help to support healthy hormones, better recovery, with many anti-aging & physique benefits. 🌱 👉 Want more tailored support with workouts that support balanced hormones? We're strong advocates for full body workouts in place of upper/lower splits. This boils down to a few key factors: volume, stress management, and posture – let’s take a closer look: 🔹 Volume: If you're only hitting 4 muscle groups once a week in an upper/lower split, you're missing out on valuable training volume. With full body workouts 3-4 times per week, your muscles receive more frequent stimulation, leading to quicker adaptations, improved strength, and greater muscle growth. 🔹 Stress Management: We find that full body training is much better suited to people who are stressed. This is because the intensity of training is diluted over multiple workouts, putting less strain on the central nervous system and the resulting stress cascade that can impact your sleep, digestion, and effective recovery. We like to use exercise to manage stress, rather than perpetuate it. 🔹 Posture: If you’re a member of the desk-bound working population, you’re likely familiar with the hunched shoulders and tight chest that comes with the job. Stack an upper body session focused on pecs and bicep work, and it can make your posture worse (we see it alot!). Our full-body approach incorporates a 2:1 pull/push ratio, to counteract the effects of sitting all day. We want your training to complement and enhance your quality of life, and we find that full body sessions work wonders with our clients to support stress levels, strength and better posture. 👉 Want to start reaping the benefits of full body workouts? What’s with the name @5elementwellness? After working with thousands of clients, we’ve found that there are five areas – or elements – of health that work synergistically to help you thrive. Our five elements are: 🤸‍♀️ Movement: Mobility, strength, posture, and living pain free 🥗 Nourishment: Nutrition, digestion, hydration 🫶 Connection: Community, support, sense of belonging 🌱 Fulfilment: Building confidence, achieving goals, gratitude, healthy physique ☀️ Stress Management: Mindfulness, yoga, hot & cold therapy. We like to think of these aspects of health as a wheel: if one element is under-supported (or even non-existent) the wheel can’t turn smoothly and so, our health and wellbeing will bear the brunt of a lack of balance. Our coaches incorporate these five elements into tailored training and lifestyle programs, so that every one of our clients has a totally personalised approach to cultivating more balance and wellness in their life. 📊 Which of the five elements do you think you need more of? @5ElementWellness • #5EW #Fitness #HolisticHealth #HolisticGym #OptimalHealth #holisticmelbourne #motivated

Bored with group training? Here are 3 reasons to upgrade to Semi Private PT: 1️⃣ Personalised attention: With Semi Private PT, you work with a coach in a group no larger than 6. This means you get way more attention than in a huge group class, so your coach is able to correct your form, tweak your program as you need, and help you avoid injuries. 2️⃣ Progress: Semi Private PT sessions are structured in a 12-month cycle of 4 week training phases, so you'll never get bored or burn out. Each month, you focus on a different undulating training goal, such as strength, endurance, hypertrophy and fat loss. This ensures you recover well and keep making progress. 3️⃣ Motivation: Having a community feel while you workout is brilliantly supportive. In Semi Private PT, you have folks around to push and cheer you on, and you'll be more likely to stick to your training routine. It's basically the best of Personal Training and group classes combined. 😉 If you're looking for a more personalised training experience where you’ll make significant progress, learn great exercise technique AND make friends, Semi Private PT is the way to go. 💪 Contact us today to learn more Follow 👉 @5elementwellness for more insights into holistic health, fitness and wellness. #5EW #5thElementWellness #SelfCare #WellnessCoaching #Holistic

Let’s face it: the world of supplements is bamboozling. And you’re not alone if you’re left thinking, ‘do I even need these things?’ Quality Over Hype 🌱 Many supplements on the market prioritise flashy marketing over ingredient integrity. That’s why it’s important to choose bioavailable, high-quality supplements for the right application. Here’s why: 😣 Stress & Nutrient Drain Stress increases the body's need for trace minerals like magnesium, which is vital for hundreds of enzymatic processes. 🌍 Diverse diets are a thing of the past Our ancestors enjoyed a richer range of foods, which naturally provided a more diverse set of nutrients. Modern diets tend to be less varied and seasonal, leaving us at risk of missing out on essential nutrients. 🥦 Depleted Soil Even if you’re mindful of avoiding processed foods and upping your veggies, industrial farming depletes our soil and can contribute to mineral depletion. Here are our top 4 supplement recommendations for clients at 5EW: 1. Magnesium: If you’re struggling with sleep, stress or feeling constantly tired, magnesium can support deep rest, post-workout recovery and how you bounce back from the physical signs of stress… along with hundreds of hundreds of other processes too! 2. Zinc: Do you struggle with motivation to work out some days, or want to improve body composition? Zinc can bolster better energy levels, muscle tone and stress recovery. 3. Fish Oil: If you’re having trouble focusing and bouncing back from workouts, you may find that fish oil can help boost your concentration, energy, joint + muscle health. 4. Protein Powder: If meal prep is too difficult to manage, or you want a healthy snack on hand, high quality protein powder can help keep you feeling full, while supporting healthy lean muscle mass, fat loss and recovery. Have you got these 4 supplements in your stack? 👉Check out our leading range of practitioner approved supplements at shop.5ew.com.au ⎻ @5elementwellness #smartsupplementation #naturalsupplements #supplementsthatwork #nutritionalsupplements #supportlocal #immunity #guthealthy #guthealth #supplementstack

How many quick fixes have you been tempted by that don't deliver results? We all know the pull of instant gratification. It's easy to be drawn to quick fixes, like "miracle" diet pills or 7-day workout challenges that promise results overnight. But the truth is, these approaches rarely work. Here's why: 💥 Our brains are wired to seek immediate reward: This is why we're so quick to check our phones for, or why we might opt for a sugary snack over a more nourishing meal. Our "now-focused" brains can be a significant roadblock on our path to lasting fitness and wellness. 🥱 No one is always motivated: We all have days when we'd rather stay in bed than go to the gym. The difference between folks who achieve their goals and those who don't is their ability to focus on the long-term benefits, even when immediate comfort is tempting. So, what can you do to shift your focus from instant gratification to long-term gains?🌱 Here are a few tips: 1. Get a training buddy or personal trainer: Accountability is transformative for making change. 2. Plan your weekly exercise routine: Mark out specific times in your week dedicated to exercise and treat them as non-negotiable appointments. 3. Listen to your body: Some days you'll be fired up, and others you might need to dial it back. The important thing is to keep the momentum going, even if it's a lighter session. 💡Ready to make a change? Get in touch with us today and we'll help you create a plan that's right for you @5ElementWellness • #5EW #Fitness #HolisticHealth #HolisticGym #OptimalHealth #holisticmelbourne #motivated
