Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Mark Bogaerts @marrkb

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hello! My name is Mark and I run two Dutch websites. I always used to work way to much hours of the week in the supermarket and some other soul-killing jobs. Till one day I decided I was not gonna live this unhappy, unfulfilling life being underappreciated! I started to workout a lot, live a healthier lifestyle and started really working on myself. My best friend had the idea to start up a blog, called Gymjunkies. We inspire people to live a more healthy lifestyle, workout and to have fun while doing it. Then I wanted to write more about my feelings and the things in my head. I help people with the things I’ve struggled with. On that website Mijn Innerlijke Kracht (My Inner Strength) I blog about lifehacks, mindset and spirituality.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

It really depends in what kind of mood I am. Sometimes I write about my day. Sometimes I write the thoughts inside of my head. I also like to post about my workouts, a little fashion and I love to write about great products!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Funny thing, I always used to be a kind of a badass kid in high school and they used to call me Mark B in that time. And I had my Instagram account already before I even had an iPhone so it’s still kinda my highschool nickname! I’ve tried to change it to my own full name but that was already taken so I’m stuck with this one haha!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I only use one app right now, everything I want can be done with Snapseed. I love it!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love what @infinitewaters does with his inspiring posts and vlogs about mindset, health and spirituality. And also I love to see what kind of lifestyle @jonolsson1 build for himself. They are really my biggest inspiration. My vision is a little bit of a fusion of what they do. Probably because I only watch those two consistently!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Be real. Be authentic and inspire people by being just who you are. Show them what it is that drives you. If people would be themselves instead of trying to be like somebody else there would be a lot more happy people living in dreams instead of chasing other people’s dreams.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Doing things my way. I create what’s on my channel. I decide when I do it, how I do it and how often I do it. Being your own boss gives freedom and besides that, what’s a better thing to do then change your life and inspire people to do the same?

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Look for real people to work with. Don’t just look at the numbers. Most of the people buy their followers or gain them with tools or techniques. Also the reactions are mostly fake, from engagement groups and bots. Seek out people who write real stuff and have real engagement. It’s about time Instagram is gonna shut down all of that fake shit!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Don’t take any product on just to get free stuff and a little money from it. Know what you are worth and post only the things that are worthy of your page. If you post less, but only quality things people will know you are real. If your account is filled with products and advertorials not a lot of people will listen to what you’re saying anymore. Keep it real!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like to write about amazing products. And ofcourse it’s always nice to receive free products and earn money with something I love to do!
