Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Carol Lali @miss_acalaca

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Well growing up I was an awkward, introvert and things just took a turn now I’m this outgoing bubbly person. I’m a free spirit. I studied fashion designing and now I’m self employed thanks to the digital space for opening me up the world. I am also model, and I am from a small town called queenstown in the eastern side of South Africa but currently residing in Johannesburg.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Fashion, art, beauty ok I’m interested in all things creative. As a child I enjoyed my crayons and scissors and boy did I cut everything in front of me.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Acalaca is an acronym for my initials
A from Akona
CA from Carol
LA from Lali
CA from Carpede
I just decided to play around with my initials an boom Miss Acalaca was formed

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use photo editor
I really don’t do much, I will maybe clean up the picture using the blemish or blur tool, then increase the brightness if it’s dark. Whiten the eyes or teeth sometimes just to give a lively look

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Locally it’s got to be The only scoop Makhathini, he’s a gem! True to what and who he is, he’s style is so unique you just can’t miss him.
Internationally Maria de Giovanni, I love her style and how dedicated she is to her craft

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Collaborations! Especially with people with same interests as them, I believe we have a better chance when we are working as a collective

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Free products and getting paid to post your reviews. Lol just kidding but honest at the same time.
I really dig the fact that the platform has opened me up to global brands and I get to see the world in a different perspective. And it’s also great that I become a teacher to my followers

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Organic posts as influencers we understand our followers better, we know what they like and how they react to certain posts. So if brands would allow us more creative freedom that would be nice.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

When you are dealing with millennials and women you need to understand the importance of quality content, because they react much better to visualsand ofcoz Being real is important in what ever I do I try to put a little of my essence.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Building lasting relationships, it’s nice when brands can always come back to you for more campaigns
