Actually I wanted to share this to discuss how surgery can reduce the size of a nose but it can’t really change the quality or thickness of the skin, particularly in redder/vascular skin and when a pt has Rosacea. In fact skin thickness and quality can limit our ability to give significant definition to the nasal tip, as the skin is the envelope that covers the architecture underneath. Think of a fluffy comforter vs a tight fitted sheet as an example. In our practice we offer RF micro needling, recommend taping, massage, and occasional steroid injections to manage skin swelling postoperatively. In severe cases, we often explain that skin texture and thickness can influence one’s candidacy for surgery. . . Rhinoplasty 😷🦏😷 in ethnic (Latin, middle eastern, Asian, or really anyone with heavier skin) patients requires careful judgement 📐📏. The greatest challenge is in giving the tip support, and keeping it looking natural, to support the nose and the soft tissue.
