The sound of water slowly dripping into the black bath water rippling through wisps of gold leaf. My work aims to quench your hunger for sensual representation of fat bodies. We’ve been starved for so long. Come here and feast my darlings. Fatphrodite has served your banquet. Since the beginning of my journey into modeling & making online content I’ve always been committed to creating images that are a blank slate for other far people to see themselves reflected in. I don’t have a hair and makeup team or a stylist and most of the time I’m wearing bed sheets or pieces of fabric or easily accessible clothing because I want others to see themselves in me. I want other fat people to see me being free and sensual and glorious and know that they can be all of those things as well and more. I don’t want elaborate makeup and hair or expensive clothing to feel like these things aren’t attainable for us. That we, in our purest form are art. Because we are. We always have been. Whenever I look at that picture of Teacup Sally I imagine her being the Madam of a big queer Victorian brøthel. She looks so smug and happy and although it isn’t actually certain that the person in the picture actually was Teacup Sally or even a $Wer one can dream about what her life was like & I like to imagine her being a fat queer delight! This pride month I want to honor all of the queer fat people that have brought pleasure, love, comfort and joy into other peoples’ lives. As in all areas of life fat people get told we do not belong and this unfortunately can also be the case in queer spaces. I’m here to tell you that we do belong. If you’re a thin queer person or consider yourself an “ally” I want you to think about - what are ways you’re going to work on unlearning your fatphobia? What are ways in which you ensure fat people feel safe and included in your care, workplace, events, brands and in your life? What are you doing to honor us? We’ve always been here and we always will be. It’s high time we get to be celebrated. This pride month I want to see fat queer joy overflowing! That’s all, Your fat queer fairy godmother. Last year I had the absolute honor of collaborating with the incredible artist @shona_mcandrew in a painting inspired by “The Brunette Odalisque” c. 1745 by François Boucher. I’d always dreamed of recreating that painting but I just never felt like I could do it justice and when @shona_mcandrew sent that as pose inspiration I chose to set aside my insecurities around this re-creation and even though I knew it wouldn’t look exactly the way I wanted to I went for it anyway because at this point in life I’d rather half-ass it than not ass it at all. And low and behold @shona_mcandrew created such delightful paintings based on my photos and they were featured at @newchildgallery in Antwerp Belgium! What a privilege to be captured by such a thoughtful and amazing artist and to be displayed in an art gallery in this fashion! So my motto this year will be to half of even quarter ass it rather than not assing it at all because lord knows I’ve been not-assing it in fear of not executing my creative visions properly and I’m over it. Also heyyyy if you’re still reading you’re the real MVP!! I’m tired & I want to say “Happy Pride” but *gestures exhaustedly at the whole planet* everything is on fire and trans and queer rights and safety are being ripped away from us every day everywhere you look and so we must stay vigilant and as impossible as it seems we cannot give up & we must continue to build & nurture community & hold each other close. I love you 💖 Now & always if you see yourself as an ally it is paramount that you speak up, protect our rights, vote like it’s your life on the line & offer mutual aid where you can.
