Never would I have thought that my (our) passion project @bylimala will be featured in a big German Newspaper - die Welt - @welt 🎉 I am proud and thankful. And I feel rewarded for all the hard continuous work that I and we put into Limala. Being seen and appreciated is one thing. It feels even more special to not only see your Limala rugs in the newspaper but to get to talk about our vision & values. A German newspaper officially printing one of our core values that is grounded in a postcolonial critique : why the word 'Berber' is problematic and should not be used anymore. Seeing this essential critique printed in a newspaper feels like a crucial step into the right direction and shows that this time can be the time for real change. There is many incredible accounts and people doing a lot of work on reclaiming the original word Amazigh (Imazighen) and doing a lot of educational work around the Imazighen population in general that I humbled to learn from. This is the powerful fierce looking Samira I knew so well before my pregnancy and before becoming a mother. Although I have experienced my birth and the whole birthing process as the most powerful act I could have ever imagined, I have experienced the entire post partum phase and all those last months of motherhood as a phase of unimaginable vulnerability and beautiful softness. Incredible to learn how all those personalities of mine become visible as I became a mother. (Not that I was not soft and vulnerable before, but as a mother vulnerability and softness become a whole new meaning) ❤️🤲🏽 #hamdoullah for all I am learning though my child.
