We are Here. Here we Are. …Even when your kids take turns grumping over a simple outdoors walk together, it usually works out to be nice little change of pace together in the end… 🤚🏻. (Thank you to the walker lady on the trail who offered to take our photo together)

You know when people are like, “you got this” and you’re like no, I don’t got this? Well, guess what? You don’t have to “got this” all the time. Ask for help. Call your loved ones. Text a friend, reach out, push yourself to meet for tea, talk about it, and let your people help you. That’s sometimes the hardest part of walking through the shadowy-times. Your mind can start to tell you that you’re not worthy, you’re taking too much; why can’t you just be grateful and happy and get it together, why are you so tired and weighted with dread, and feel like such a burden... Maybe you *are* truly grateful and aware of your blessings but it’s still just hard and unpleasant at times and you ache and just getting through the day feels like a marathon was run. Maybe you’re tired of feeling this way on top of feeling this way. Get help. You are worthy, and you do deserve help and the love you give. Love is not scarce. Maybe your reserves of energy and positivity are low right now but it’ll circle back around and it’ll be your turn to serve once again. Maybe right now you cannot volunteer or lend a hand because you need both your hands and all of your reserves for you. Asking for help and accepting help allows others to give, which always feels good. This is not a strength of mine, by the way- I’m learning to allow it, and it makes me feel outside myself almost: vulnerable and raw... and by all of these ‘you’s, written here, I mean me. It’s going to work out somehow because it has to... it’s all temporary, and in the end, You do ‘got this,’ you just don’t have to ‘got this’ alone.

Sent off a quilt top that I had been hoarding for years to @proche_studios and this two piece set magically appeared a time later!!! Love it so much!

An evening walk in the time of the #heatdome

Night one of @bfffestival was a lovely time. I’m now considering that my purpose in life is and always has been to attend film festivals, as I’ve had a lot of practice over the course of my life, watching film (and tv) with a passion that I didn’t quite notice as being bordering obsession. Did any of you used to skip college classes or spend your time off from work searching through the public library to borrow stacks of obscure films and stand up comedy vhs cassettes? How did I not put this together? Anyhow, I’m a film festival person now and am so thrilled that @geenadavisorg has been holding the inclusive event, the Bentonville Film Festival, here in Northwest Arkansas for the past 8 years! The atmosphere was very safe and pleasant and everyone was very kind and happy to be there. One can easily see how the passion for film making, sharing diverse narratives, and collaboration are at the heart of what makes @bfffestival so special and it’s neat to have access to this type of thing of a fantasy, so close! I was able to witness a “blue” carpet, attend an industry cocktail party where I overheard some excellent bits, watched a film starring Gillian Jacobs, and then stayed for a q&a with 4 of the seven directors of the film, The Seven Faces of Jane. Anyway, there are multiple venues and lots of fun for kids as well, in lovely settings like the one pictured here, a free to the public art hub @themomentary!
