It’s been quite some time since we’ve gotten to experience a *true* fall season, so we weren’t going to miss it this year. We packed up the car and headed to Breckinridge, where the Aspen trees were shining like seas of gold — before the weekend traffic arrived! 😅 Grateful we got to see them and soak up the autumn air.

Happy #NationalDogDay…to all the souls that make life so much sweeter. ❤️🐾 #banffdogs #lakelouise #lakelouisecanada #mybanff #glaciallake #dogdaysofsummer #seniordogs #albertacanada #dogsinnature #nationalparklife
To my soul dog, Maya: The day our worlds collided was the day I felt awakened with a new sense of being. You were quite the wrecking ball, in the best and most meaningful ways. Challenging me to commit to a routine, and to want better for myself. Shifting my perspective on what it really means to hold time, space, and empathy for others. Being present in the moment. It’s easy to talk about any or all of these things, but it’s life-changing when you really learn to practice and live by them. I have you to thank for this, and for so much goodness that has come into my life. Sometimes I think to myself, “If only she knew..” I hope you do know how much I love you, and how much pride and joy I feel when I look at you. What I would give to have this feeling for forever… For now, I’m embracing this moment. There you are, quietly and patiently gazing over another mountain top while the sun climbs above the horizon. The light is hitting the tips of your fur, and you look like an angel. It goes without saying, most if not all of my happiest memories are with you. I can only hope that you’ve felt the same joy and sense of adventure over the years. For however long we have together, you will always be my soul dog. Happy 14th birthday, Maya Bear. I love you so much, it hurts. ❤️ #seniordogs #dogbirthdays #souldog #huskydog
Smiles from our new backyard. Colorado is treating us well. 🏠🏔️❤️
“When the mind is controlled and spirit aligned with purpose, the body is capable of so much more than we realize.” - @richroll
👋 It’s been a little while, and we’ve got some life updates! 🏔️ Since moving to Colorado last fall, it hasn’t taken long to fall in love with the Denver area. Talk about a Mecca for snow dogs, and working in tech. Every direction feels like an opportune one, and we’re really digging it. 🏠 Put down roots (again). A few months ago we started building our next house, which I cannot wait to make a home. (Let’s just say it’s a tight squeeze with all of us in a tiny apartment while we wait for completion.) 🐺You may or may not have seen earlier this year that Ava broke a toe. She’s never broken anything so it was a first for us — and at 13, the vets and I were very worried about her healing process during one of Denver’s wettest winters, ever. 😖 But we were proactive, and in the end Ava healed within 6 weeks. She has since done several hikes and is still running circles around Maya and I! 🐺Maya is also doing well. She will be 14 this summer (sigh), but she’s aging with so much grace. We did recently do a checkin with the vet. After her TPLO several years ago, we suspect that she does have some arthritis, so we’ve put together a plan to get her on NSAID meds. This will help reduce inflammation in her joints (hips and knees), and give her a little extra oomph on our hikes. She is still smiling from the car to the top of mountains, so as long as she’s happy, we’ll keep going! It was a rough road getting here, but we’re getting settled, and have a lot to look forward to. 🙏 Stay tuned for more interior design updates with the girls :)
Still eating mountains for breakfast. 😍
Gimme that sunshine. ☀️
Happy Valentine’s Day from our family to yours. ❤️
Today we did our first hike in 6 weeks — after getting the green light from our vet. ICYMI, Ava broke a toe back in December, and it has been pretty tough staying out with all of the snow we’ve gotten since, let alone keeping her foot dry. But we did it, and she’s healed! We all had a blast and couldn’t have asked for better weather this morning. Here are some snippets from our hike. 🤗
Everything the light touches. ✨
