Meet Wren! The newest member of Harlow’s House ❤️ We could not love this little lady more. She is the perfect addition to our family and reminds us so much of our Harlow 🥰
We have been so moved by all of the love, kindness and support you all have shown since we shared that Harlow passed away. If we could thank each one of you individually for lifting us up during such a hard time, we would. Please know how thankful we are for this amazing community. Indiana, Reese, Ezra, Mae and Harlow’s cats are all doing well. They are definitely missing their big sister and looking for her everywhere. Harlow was such a huge presence in our house and in each one of their lives. One thing that has surprised us is how extra sweet and patient Ezra has been with his “little” sisters. The three of them have been snuggling up as close to him as possible. They haven’t ever really done that with Ezra before. He learned from the very best how to take care of his little Dachshunds and it has been really heartwarming to see. Another thing that has surprised us has been the sense of peace our family has felt during this whole process. Harlow was 15 and while we realize she lived a long and happy life, we weren’t sure what life would feel like without her. I had been so worried about taking photos and not seeing her through my lens but I took this picture of Ezra, Indi, Reese and Mae and I felt huge wave of relief and love just kind of wash over me. The four of them automatically left a space for Harlow and it was a gentle reminder that Harlow is and always will be here with us. And we will always leave space for her. Harlow coincidentally passed away on the 10 year anniversary of us starting this Instagram page. I like to look for meaning in every little thing and I feel strongly that it was her way of thanking you all for coming on this adventure with her. She lived the most extraordinary life and as her parents, we feel so grateful to have shared her with every one of you. She was such a special girl. This community means the world to us. Thank you all for everything. We hope you will continue to follow along on the adventures of Harlow’s best friends ❤️
On March 2nd, our amazing Harlow left this world to go and be with her best friend, Sage. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the dogs, cats and humans who loved her the absolute most. It is impossible to put into words how much Harlow meant to us. She was pure happiness and she made everyone she came in contact with feel special and loved. Her kindness and willingness to accept and nurture those around her was the greatest gift she could have ever given us. Harlow was love of our lives and we will be forever thankful that we got to be by her side and learn from her every day for 15 years. We love you forever and ever, Harlow. Thank you for being the most special girl to your mom and to dad and for touching the lives of everyone who knew you. Run free with Sage now. ❤️
Thank you so much for all of your kind messages. Mae is feeling much better! She has been walking and playing just like normal and her neck pain seems to be gone for the most part. Thank you again for all of your messages and for sharing similar stories about your own dogs. We love being part of this community ❤️
Our little Mae has had one tough week. A few days ago, Mae was not acting like herself. She was flinching in pain and refused to walk or stand. Because she is a Dachshund, we immediately thought something was wrong with her back. We got her to our veterinarian right away and luckily, she was able to get Mae to walk and bear weight. She thinks Mae could have done something to her neck and that with time, this sort of soft tissue injury will heal on its own. Mae seems to be feeling better each day. She is on medication for pain and is on strict crate rest for the next few weeks. We have been lucky to have never gone through anything like this with our other Dachshunds and we try so hard to prevent things like this from happening. It has all felt very scary for us. We are so thankful Mae seems to be feeling like herself more and more. ❤️
Today would have been Harlow’s 16th Birthday 🎈We were the luckiest to spend 15 birthdays with our girl! As much as we wish she were here today to celebrate with, we are so happy that she is spending her day with her best friends, Sage and @barkgriswold We always made sure that Harlow’s birthdays were extra special and that is exactly what we are doing today! We miss you and love you forever and ever, Harlow girl ♥️

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to photograph this sweet pup, Gustav. Gustav was nearing the end of his life and his best friend/human wanted some photographs to remember him by. It was one of the most special experiences of my life as a photographer and one that I will never forget. Since photographing Gustav, I have joined a network of other photographers @thetillyproject The Tilly Project is an international nonprofit organization that aims to connect pet owners with end-of-life pet photographers across the world. Many of the photographers who work with The Tilly Project offer end-of-life photoshoots for free or at a discounted rate. If you are looking to connect with a photographer to capture some images of your best friend, visit the thetillyproject.org to find someone in your area. And if you are a photographer who would like to be added to this fantastic network, you can register as well. The Tilly Project is such a wonderful organization that I feel extremely grateful to be part of. I hope others will look into the amazing services they provide. If you’re near the Salt Lake area, please reach out to me directly and I would be more than happy to help! [email protected] A huge thank you to Gustav and his wonderful dad for letting me be part of their journey ❤️
