πͺ A common question I get about body composition goes something like this: How can I preserve muscle mass on a cut while still incorporating cardio? Pay Attention. This applies to anyone trying to lose body fat. The following rules apply: 1οΈβ£ Establish a moderate calorie deficit. Nothing crazy. Too big a deficit and muscle mass has a greater likelihood of wasting away. 2οΈβ£ Keep protein to .8-1gram per pound of Bodyweight. Too low on protein and muscle mass can waste away. Overeating protein beyond 1 gram per pound will mean less carbs or fats, which isn't ideal either. 3οΈβ£ Train hard 3-5x per week. Lift weights with the goal of getting stronger or lifting more reps each time. Muscle needs a stimulus to grow or maintain. As you diet, it is easy to get complacent with training since you are likely feeling lower energy. 4οΈβ£ Keep all of your other movements outside of the gym low to moderate intensity. This includes cardio.
