The @maccosmetics Powder Kiss family living in my makeup drawer has grown since the summer. If you like intense, one swipe color payoff, these ones aren’t for you - but it’s why I like them so much! They are buildable, feel comfortable, and have an almost metallic vanilla scent (you love it or you don’t). As with any matte formula, I like to make sure my lips are moisturized and exfoliated before application. These aren’t long wearing - you will need to reapply- but they wear off nicely and, again, that is something that I like that others may not. SO if you like a buildable, comfortable matte formula that wears off nicely and you don’t mind a touch up after eating, it’s worth a try! After swatching them all a half dozen times, I chose Reverence - one of the new shades. It hasn’t been around very long, but @seabirdutah has become a fast favorite. The decor is clean-lined, it has a beautiful nighttime view, and they play an excellent selection of vinyl...not to mention it’s conveniently located directly above my favorite coffee shop. If you’re a fan of tequila, I highly recommend the Oaxacan Old Fashioned. They also do an excellent Whiskey Sour 👌🏻 #byamandaperry

Okay, I have A LOT of thoughts about this powder... _ BLENDABILITY: Not to be confused with application. I used various powder blushes, bronzers, contour shades, etc. over this formula and had no problems with blending (Photo 5) _ COVERAGE: Impressive and versatile. I used the sponge to get the fullest coverage possible, and a brush for lighter coverage. I didn’t use any concealer (not even around my eyes). Photos 2-3 are a Before and After applied with the sponge. _ SKIN TYPE: Here’s where I struggled the most. I have very combo skin (dry perimeter, oily t zone) and am even more dry than usual thanks to the winter. I got the best results when I HEAVILY prepped my skin with moisturizer and let it sink in before applying the foundation. If I didn’t, it accentuated all of my dryness (Photo 4). Oily gals, I think you’ll like this. Dry...not so much. I will also note that this didn’t break out my sensitive skin - yay! _ LONGEVITY: I ran into a problem around my nose area. It’s cold, so my nose gets a little runny and totally lifts the product off in my nose creases - if you keep the foundation in your bag and use it for quick touch ups, this isn’t a problem. I wore this for 6 hours before dusting my face with a powder brush, then it was good as new. _ FINISH: It’s matte. Duh. It’s a powder and doesn’t have any luminosity or shimmer in it (Photo 3). I prefer the finish after it’s been on for a while (I typically gravitate toward a luminous/natural finish) since it has time to mix with the oils my face produces. _ CONCLUSION: I love the level of coverage, hate the depths of hydration preparation I have to go through before application (it kills the quick application time), love the longevity, and am not the biggest fan of the finish (personal preference). _ If you’re oily, want good coverage, a matte finish, fast application, and good lasting power (retouch around hour 6), I think it’s worth looking into! _ TATTOO LINER: I love the formula of the tattoo liner, but am not a fan of brush applicators. I was able to try out the @redken Color Extend Blondage Shampoo and Conditioner and Extreme Cat Leave-In Treatment. It is formulated especially for blonde hair and is supposed to neutralize/reduce brassiness and prevent breakage. The treatment adds protein to restore hair strength. If you swipe, you can see a before and after from the first time I used it. I took the photo in front of the same window and there are no edits. THE GOOD: It did help brighten my blonde...particularly the mids-ends where my hair is a level 9-10. The conditioner felt very moisturizing and made it easy to comb through my hair. It smells AMAZING. My hair feels softer, but I don’t know if it’s because of the treatment or the conditioner... THE BAD: The shampoo is VERY pigmented. It needs to be in order to deposit the purple to neutralize the brassiness, but it will stain your hands if you don’t rinse them off thoroughly. The conditioner is a little heavy for my fine hair strands. Thick/coarse hair should be just fine, though! Don’t overdo it with the leave-in. Too much protein is a real thing when it comes to your hair! THE VERDICT: I have used several purple shampoos in my time as a stylist. This one does the job without making the hair feel dry. Don’t expect it to cancel out orange-y tones! Just yellow. You can see in my before and after that the mids/ends are more neutralized, but the darker areas retained more warmth (as I expected it to). If you have light level 9-10 blonde hair, I would definitely give this a try!
