Chiripa is a project that seeks to experiment with how users relate to each other in an undefined typology, a hybrid between #house, apartment, and #hotel. Since the lot is small, the volumes are placed one in front of the other and moved in opposite directions to allow free views, greater privacy and good ventilation and natural lighting. Access to the project is through the upper part of the lot, through a walkway that rises above the central #garden, which functions as an entrance hall to the complex with an open staircase in the shape of a semi circle, used by both blocks. The two volumes are connected by a series of bridges that overlook the central garden on one side and the bay on the other. The visible beams and slabs contribute visually to reduce the scale of the project. The implementation of stucco on the walls, in an off-white tone, serves as a background for the shadows cast by the vegetation that grows in the different green areas of the complex. #architecture: PALMA @palmamx 📍#Mexico #photography: Luis Young @_luisyoungfotografia

Treetop Walk Hamaren Activity Park is carefully designed as a response to the curvature of the Nordic mountain, sometimes following the mountain’s ridges and slopes, and sometimes bending out, creating viewpoints and dramatic drops where visitors can feel the wind in the treetops. The one-kilometer long and two meters wide plank boardwalk extends on pillars all the way from the forest floor, along Lake Fyresvatn, up between the treetops, along the mountain ridge, and up to the summit of Klokkarhamaren. At the trail's end, a considerable circular viewpoint with a diameter of 50 meters provides a spectacular 360-degree view over the pine forest, clear lakes, and rock formations that make up the natural #landscape. The #walkingtrail, universally designed with a gentle incline, is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists, pushchairs, and wheelchairs. #architecture: EFFEKT @effektarchitects 📍#Norway #photography: Rasmus Hjortshøj @rasmus_hjortshoj

Bricks@47 House is a playfield for several design and construction techniques. From designing elements using custom-written codes, such as the parametric brick wall and parapets or the double curved canopies, to relying on century-old methods of spanning distances like the jack arch. The house was a testing bed for Hi-tech design tech marrying low-tech construction tech. The house has received a Platinum certification from IGBC Green Homes. Some important aspects covered include: reduced heat islands on roofs with adequate insulation and reflective paints (almost 20% of the ground floor is covered in natural terrain with the house allows for universal accessibility), rainwater harvesting, efficient plumbing fixtures, using drought-resistant species for plantation, and energy conservation measures (efficient envelope, efficient lighting, efficient air-conditioning systems, and solar PVs), to name a few. #architecture: Design Plus @designplusbuilds 📍#India #photography: Studio Suryan Dang @suryananddang #parametricdesign #brick #sustainablearchitecture

The scheme of Alesia #Museum consists of two separate but related structures: one building is a museum, and the other is a visitors’ center. The design strategy suggested creating two buildings with a simple cylindrical shape and a sufficient degree of abstraction so that they can be inserted independently into their context and yet provide the 360° panoramic view required by each of the buildings. The client wanted both buildings to appear as non-obtrusive as possible in their respective contexts. The museum is built of stones, similar in look to the town buildings, but with contemporary technology, and is buried partially into the hill so that from above it appears as an extension of the #landscape. By pairing the structures, committing to integrating the buildings with the landscape, and a simple round-building typology, the buildings manage to defer to the battle site while fostering a sense of presence. #architecture: Bernard Tschumi Architects @bernard.tschumi 📍#France #photography: Christian Richters, Iwan Baan @iwanbaan (3, 4, 6, & 7)

Designed for a couple who appreciate art and the modernist/brutalist style that is very present in Higienópolis, #SaoPaulo, JF Apartment showcases a duality between the pre-existing brutalist #concrete structure and the newly-implemented curves. The main challenge of this project was to guarantee minimal finishes despite the imperfections and irregularities typical of a #brutalist modernist apartment. The curves, which meet the terrazzo floor, were used not only for aesthetic reasons. In the master suite, the curves were incorporated through the panel executed in Portuguese stones, creating a link with the sidewalks in Rio designed by Burle Marx, one of the residents' favorite artists. The use of colors was very punctual, mainly in the furniture, works of art, and in some prominent elements, such as the entrance door in the master suite, which was inspired by #Mondrian. #architecture: ZALC Arquitetura 📍#Brazil #photography: André Mortatti @andremortattifotografia

"Traditional House of the Future" is a #prototype encapsulating the realities of a rapidly changing lifestyle, at the intersection between traditional and modern, neither rural nor urban. The project proposes strategies for recycling and revitalizing #vernacular houses, following up research on how self-builders are transforming their own houses as a response to the urbanization of rural #China. Chinese traditional houses are built in such a way that they can be dismantled in a single day. The project proposes a participatory framework for design and construction that combines on-site robotic printing and traditional wood craftsmanship. The original house was scanned, and robotically printed walls were customized to incorporate the original structure, making it possible to design new spaces: planting, entrance #courtyard, skylight, balcony, kitchen, and bathrooms. #architecture: Lidia Ratoi + John Lin #photography: Rui Rui Deng, Motong Yang, Chang Liu #3dprinting #roboticprinting #concrete #Guiyang

Church of Beatified Restituta is designed to be simple in expression and elementary in geometry. The #church has a circular floor plan, an age-long symbol of heaven and eternity (in contrast to the square, which refers to earth and transience). The heaven is reflected back in the colorful annular window that embraces the church just below the roof. Since the church is located in the heart of the housing estate at the mouth of the Čertova rokle ravine, an area covered with tall concrete apartment buildings, the material of the building mimicked its surrounding architecture. #architecture: Atelier Stepan 📍#CzechRepublic #photography: BoysPlayNice @boysplaynice

Achioté Villas, the very first “rammed earth” implementation in Costa Rica, are two villas nestled on a hill within a jungle. The #architecture of villas is deliberate with its thin and sharp lines in contrast to lush tropical vegetation, but the chosen materials and colors complement the surroundings. The architectural design is based on the orientation of the building plot toward the endless view of the Pacific Ocean and the morphology of the terrain. The architect wanted to design sustainable houses with biophilic interiors. Although both villas are architecturally the same, each of them has different vibrations that were reflected in the #interiordesign. Jaspis Villa (jaspis = jasper, bright villa) is a reflection of yin energy; It is connected to the ocean and sky visually with a yellow/sand color palette. Nefrit Villa (nefrit = jade, dark villa) is a reflection of yang energy; which highlights the connection between the ground and the jungle with the red-terracotta color of the concrete floor. #architecture: Formafatal @formafatal #photography: BoysPlayNice @boysplaynice #archdaily #rammedearth #biophilia #villa
