Earlier this month I went to China for a week for some @thenorthface events in Shanghai and Beijing. It was a very full week, not just with all the public events and media interviews and things, but a lot of cool tourism and personal exploration. I tried to run several of the mornings so that I could see the cities a bit more. This is a random assortment of photos from the different cities and various events. The Shanghai skyline, Beijing by air, the Great Wall of China, and various touristy events. A big thank you to the TNF China team for being such incredible hosts and making my trip so memorable. I got to climb the first few pitches of the Nose with @jaredleto the other day - he sent a few of the pitches which is pretty legit for someone who spends most of his time making music and movies. It was a fun last day in the Valley for me before we headed back to Vegas for the season.

I had the pleasure of teaming up with one of my oldest friends and climbing partners @joshkmccoy to climb a fairly new route on the South Face of Half Dome. We had a blast climbing The Xue Way - 20 pitch 5.12a A0 - though it felt incredibly hot on the sunny south face. The climbing followed incredible dike features back and forth across the face, which was fun and novel but I found it slightly frustrating to be climbing sideways and not up. The wall feels a lot bigger when you don’t go straight up. But it was a fun and safe addition to the wall - definitely the most accessible way for anyone to climb the South Face of HD if they’re interested. Nothing but respect for the team that did the first ascent - it must have been an insane amount of work. Pics are from Josh leading one of the dike traverses (and yes, cheating - he’s completely untroubled by any rules in climbing) and various summit selfies at sunset.
